League has begun to be overrun with Bots that really ruin games for everyone.

How do we fix this?

We really need a bot option in reporting a player. I started playing against bots with a friend who just started, three games in a row had bots. one was three bot players and the two of us. They literally just rush mid and then stop right after the inhibitor. How are new players supposed to make progress learning this game when the beginner level play is infested with bots?

This is a really big problem, although there has been bots playing in dominion since quite a time now. The thing is they got really cocky now and it seems to be getting "popular" on other maps. Coop ia is kinda of infestated, cant play dominion neither TTL now, always 2-3 bots in everygame. They just run heal-gohst, and make any game un winnable. I have read that they even show up on pvp now, and its bots vs bots, and a few humans watching them troll. They have to do something soon before it becomes unstoppable, they are hurting the newer players first impressions and ruining a lots of game healthy experiences.

i had 3 games of aram yesterday with bots in them. easiest 2 to figure out were bots: wukong that only ran DIRECTLY along the middle of the map and an Azir building entirely like a generic season 1/2 mage AND only moving down the exact middle of the map 3rd one might have just been a bad player, hard to tell sometimes

I play mostly ranked, so i never even knew there was bots in league, but lately i got a couple of my friends to start playing, and literally EVERY game of 3s, or dominion is INFESTED with bots. I mean I'm like hey guys check out this cool game, and what they get is a bunch of idiot bots that just run to one spot and stand there over and over. riot really needs to do something about this. It's a huge problem for new players. I mean what a lame first impression.

Stand united and keep bitching, I guess. Something has to be done and the ones with the power to do it need to know to use their power.

Stop the bots 2014!

Just played my first ARAM with nine (!) bots . I guess we really need some kind of Riot statement regarding those bots. Should I like open a support ticket naming these account or what?

Short-term the only real thing to do is report the accounts that you see. Report in-game for feeding or aiding the enemy team. File a support ticket and give them the names of the accounts that are botting.

Riot tries to automatically catch these, but it's an arms race between the devs making better and harder-to-detect bots and the devs making better detection systems. Based on the complaints in the forums the botters seem to be winning in the last couple weeks.

Hopefully the Tribunal revamp will include some new report categories to filter these out better.

Actually, there seem to be different bot versions. The first you encounter is the 'stupid bot', who just straight up runs mid and feeds. There is, however, at least one bot who is rather clever almost like someone ripped the intermediate bot AI from LoL and runs it as a script. Those bots often play ARAM which seems to suit their one-dimensional tactics. However, you can spot them with ease because they will perform the exact same movement pattern under certain circumstances, leading to a funny formation dance if you got more than one of those bots in the game. even though it is not as aggravation to play against this 'better' bot, it still distorts the leveling experience for new players.

Did Riot respond to the situation?

I'll go digging for the Red post again...

But basically, Riot is not banning accounts simply because they are botting. They won't spend any time banning bot accounts as they feel it is time wasted with more bots being made faster than they can be identified and banned. Instead, Riot is looking into the possibility of discouraging the "black market" that is relying on these bots, thus reducing the bot population.

Again, i'll find the Red post.

IMHO, I think Riot should impliment a CAPCHA system in some limited, but mandatory means to ensure only real people are playing LoL.

You're right. Bots have been a growing plague, especially in Dominion. It's something we've been working on for a while, but it's been a complex issue. Botting is like a hydra - cut off one head and two more spawn in its place. Recently, it's become clear to us that in order to tackle this issue, we have to get at the root cause, rather than just attacking the bots. Simply banning/deleting bots would be akin to cutting off a hydra's head, and we need to sear the stump so it can't regrow. We need to address the motivation for botting and punish the beneficiaries, not just the bots.

I'm sure you guys can understand that the more we talk about our plans in detail, the easier it is for botters to "level up" their game as well. So, even though we can't share our specific plans, please be assured that we are taking this seriously, and we're aggressively working toward slaying this beast.

If Riot were to sell level 30 accounts to smurfs and remove monetary rewards from Refer-A-Friend, I think a lot of botting would fall by the wayside.

Report bots every time you see them. Either report as feeders, afkers etc. If you don't report, Riot can't do anything..

Please fix this soon, i just got stuck in 2 matches in a row that were only bots. It was a TT Pvp game

Fires of Justice10/1/2014, 6:58:30 PM1 votes

Out of curiosity, what purpose do you guys believe bots fulfill?

TEEMOcalypse10/2/2014, 4:03:54 PM1 votes

i know of a dozen bot accounts that i had a hand in getting disabled, so reporting definetly does work

Rabbit10/2/2014, 4:59:46 PM1 votes

Wouldn't simply implementing a pre-cue Captcha nearly eliminate this problem? They make us do it too post here.

Loki Viserion10/2/2014, 8:38:36 PM1 votes

I have had this problem as well many times. Ive had bots in 3v3 and 5v5 SR! Ive even played where I was the only REAL player on a 3v3. It sux! completely ruins my want to play and my win streaks.

Soleka10/3/2014, 5:22:50 AM1 votes

welp I've taken to reporting all bots at griefing: Intentional feeding with the comment of bot. Maybe if enough of us start squakin about them in game we can start getting those accounts banned.
