@Riot can we get some feedback on autofill?

So we've had this system for months and everyone has really gotten a chance to evaluate the upsides and downsides of the system. A large portion of gameplay has shown over the past few months their extreme disagreement of autofill and what it is doing to the game.

So can you please give your players some feedback? We've heard pretty much nothing regarding the topic. I'm not posting this to start a witch hunt, but I really want to hear what Riot is thinking in regards to the future of autofill.

Can you tell us if you are planning on keeping it permanently, removing it completely, or making adjustments to it? I think the players could really use some of this information right now due to the large amount of hatred of players in the games and on the boards regarding autofill.

Tl;DR: Riot what are you gonna do about autofill, we feel left in the dark.

Feedback: It exists, but it has to exist in order for queue times to be reasonable. It sucks that it has to exist. Some people would rather wait to get their preferred roles, but not everyone has that desire/time to spare.

Other relevant thing: League boards, reddit, and other communities are a small fraction of the playerbase, so it's important to remember that even the whole of them do not accurately represent the playerbase as a whole. People who are happy generally have no need or desire to post. This is why it seems like everyone can be against something if you read the boards.

A lot of people have noted that toxicity has gone up as well as dodge rates so I don't know if que times are truly any shorter if you throw in time spent in dodged lobbies.

Also I think a lot of the playerbase generally dislikes it, but either don't know of the boards or dislike it enough to voice their concerns. To simplify what I'm saying I believe more then half of the playerbase dislikes autofill, there are people that like it sure, but the majority is against it.

Agreed on boards not representing the entire playerbase, maybe riot could do a poll in the client get some feedback to make a decision on whether to keep it or not.

Would make a fine solution honestly, both sides would be satisfied. But I don't see riot doing it :/

Not enough people would opt in for it to actually have a noticable effect on queue times though.

Random other thing: My queue times have increased significantly without dodges being factored in, due to being a suport main no longer having 500 games waiting for a support. Feelsbadman.

Ah that's the worst thing. I remember old que I selected support gave me a lobby in 7 seconds lol...

Yeah forgot people wouldn't opt for it, it would be like selecting fill like it is.

But I do hate when people support this thing saying how much they love autofill, but when autofilled they throw a fit :/ wouldn't be a surprise for all who like is new autofill see them not selecting the opt-in for it but sitting on a high horse telling other players to do so.

Yeah. 7 Seconds used to be a long queue time for me lol.

It's great when the enemy team has an autofill that handicaps them. It's terrible when your team is handicapped by someone autofilled.

I like the concept of autofill, but Season 6 spoiled everyone to where they didn't have to have have a champ they can get a passable performance on for multiple roles. People didn't need to keep up with metas for other roles as much, which is one factor to autofill being a significant detriment to a team's performance.

Honestly, I'd rather just go back to no role selection at all. At least then people had at least the ability to not completely suck at every role, since they were more likely to have to play non-main roles more often.

i don't mind auto fill. if i get auto filled i dodge and log in to different account and keep playing with no penalty. isn't this what everyone does?

You dodge then the guy who got mid in that lobby gets autofilled, it's just passing along the problem.

Feedback: Autofill is great. For queue times... Match quality sucks balls and we knew it would, it was a huge concern we presented when it was first implemented back in august last year. The fact that it's only required because of Role Selection in the first place is hilarious.

"Some low level players don't like pick order. So here's role selection. Now you get to pick your role! Oh, but if you don't want 30 minute queues we have actually force one or two players per game to play something they don't like or are as experienced at with autofill, so it's essentially the same as being last pick in pick order. Only role selection now comes with the caveat that role swapping with other players could get you banned so no one does it and you were actually likely to be in an off role less often with pick order style anyways. But yeah, there you go players, because some low level dudes complained we actually devised a system you asked for, it's just worse at doing what it's supposed to do than the previous system in every way unless you are a low level player who refuses to communicate in lobby and work out a strategy for the whole team."

That's literally how role selection has worked out, autofill is a must if you have it, and it's worse than the previous system we had.

But hey, that's just the opinion of this diamond player (ok... it's the opinion of a lot us up here, but the system was only invented for low level players anyways so what do we really care when we will just do what we always did before it existed and talk it all out in lobby to get everyone in the best possible role).
