It's not the same map, so there's no reason the removal of Dominion means Ascension won't come back.

Ascension was played on an altered version of dominion. Shows how much you know.

I know it's an altered version of The Crystal Scar, but it's still not the same. Dominion is a game mode, not just a map. Ascension is a completely different game mode.

Except they can't do that game mode on a map like Summoner's Rift, it's too large and doesn't represent the same playing field as Dominion. Neither can they do it on Howling Abyss. I'll go as far as to say Dominion is required for Ascension to exist as it is.

They don't need to do it on Summoner's Rift, they can keep it the way it is. Riot said they're retiring the Dominion game mode, they said nothing about featured game modes that resemble Dominion.
