Jax Definitively Trades Better than other Champs.

Therefore he definitively wins lanes because of his kit. Is prowess with trading needs to come at a cost because he scales better than practically everyone as well. Most all other auto attackers cant really trade, can really only scale and look for windows of opportunity. Jax gets the best of both worlds with the strong kit with the strong AA's. As a auto-attacker he naturally fits as a late game champ which means early/mid should be hard for him.

Interesting matter. Most autoattackers have really good lvl 1 and 2 due to having good autoattacks and other champions not having their full kit at disposal to trade yet. For instance, you'd be surprised how strong someone like Master Yi is at level 1-2 (he becomes weaker afterwhile compared to other champs though, until his powerspikes).

Jax doesn't really fall out of that line. However conqueror makes him scale too well, too fast. It's weird because he was supposed to scale well thanks to his ult resistances and long term DPS, but now it's pretty much just the dps fully transformed into uncounterable true damage with conquerors. His resistances don't matter as much against other conqueror users (and tankiness isn't that good anyway nowadays).

Anyway.. conqueror's broke Jax, imho. Grasp/PTA Jax is kinda balanced tbh.

Many, including me, share your thoughts in that a lot of the issues with balance/fun stem from the runes. Jax is just too good in lane if you know your matchups.

While Jax does have certain good matchups, Irelia RivenYorickKled , he also has SO many bad onesTeemo Nasus Tryndamere Urgot Illaoi Darius Garen Aatrox Malphite Maokai Olaf Singed Viktor Vladimir Sion Quinn Jayce Kennen Mordekaiser Poppy. Gnar

I'm a jax main, and while he is strong in this meta, if you are really good at your champion top, you can simply crush jax early. Yeah he'll scale eventually, but it'll take him a lot longer to get there.

What a good Jax does effectively is punish the other player for not understanding the matchup. The reason he requires matchup knowledge is because the vast majority of toplane champs beat him until he gets triforce and boots. So to win, a jax needs matchup knowledge, and has to pray that the enemy laner has less. I do see why people get frustrated playing against him though, as he is a relatively "simply" champion.

Trynd trashes jax till late if hes not an idiot. More sustain and does as much as damage Jax's empowered autos every time he crits

On an even footing with no item or level advantage, tryndamere can go toe to toe with jax.

Read the reply I made above yours. When balancing you have to assume everyone knows everything, bc Jax is not hard.

Jax counters Yorick because his E stops ghoul damage and Jax can Q out the wall. He isnt an easy lane for Sion imo as a main. I'm skeptial about Mao because Naut used too be a counter too Jax before conqueror.
