Chance of getting placed in platinum

I ended season 6 as Gold 3. So is it possible to get placed in plat 5+ only by placement games in season 7? If it is possible how many wins do i need outta 10 if i play exactly like average. (Not carrying hard and not sucking hard)

Thanks!

Almost 100% of the time every single player will be placed below the rank they ended last season, hence why it is called a "soft reset". Even going 10/10 in games may place you multiple divisions below your previous rank, and don't be scared that's ok. Your mmr maintains for the most part, so you will gain a large amount of LP every time you win, giving you the opportunity to climb very easily if you are still good enough (and even farther than your past rank!).

Last season I got placed from S3 to B1, but the MMR being kept allowed me to shoot all the way to P5 as I got better. Good luck in ranked!

Ok that really helped. But my situation is kinda different. I'm not trying to brag or anything but even when i was in gold 3 my mmr was MUCH higher then the average, so everytime i played the more then half of the players in game were plats and i sometimes saw D4,5s. Will this fact increase the chance?

Your mmr should stay around there when you reset, it'll just mean you'll gain a few more LP per win. Keep in mind though that normal and ranked mmr are separate. You should be able to estimate your mmr using OP.GG, but it's only a close guess to your actual ranking.

Not possible within reasonable means. I might be able to create a hypothetical situation where it happened, but if you actually deserved Gold3 (e.g. you weren't a challenger smurf that just stopped playing at Gold3), then you're not going up to Plat. 10/10 probably wouldn't be good enough.

Well, last year, I was Gold5 with a high MMR and got placed in Gold4 due to a similar situation to what you mentioned. I know one other person that went up one division like me, one person that stayed at the same division, and about 50 people that dropped, many of them by a tier or more. But like Slayer said, since your MMR is mostly untouched, you should still have a very high LP gain-loss ratio even if your win rate is 50%.

Yeah I went 9/1 in my placements I'm pretty sure and got placed in plat3 (plat1/diamond5 last season) so idk probably not too likely.
