- I Know This Is A Team Game -

I might get a lot of slack for this because this may seem a really silly at first but hear me out maybe?

I know that all of you have had those days when you single handily carried a game but there is always that one person that will absolutely ruin the entire match for you. It's happened to me, it's happened to you. So here's my take on this.

If you've revived an S- or higher on a lost game, lets say (3-5 LP loss is negated or something similar to that)

Again I know this is a team game but I hate how like every team/Esports game has a Solo Rank Rating.

"What's you're favorite part of this game Ali?" "Going 19-0-8 and still losing."

Unfortunately this is no longer a team game. It's basically a coin toss on who has the bigger idiot on a given team. The problem is that now that there are so many people playing league of legends, a majority of them play ranked. They watch the pro's play and then think they are ready for ranked.

People don't understand that itemization, objective control and team comps play a major role in winning games. Plat 3 and below your games will consist of games primarily centered around TDM. (teamdeath match).

Long gone are the glory days of que-ing up for ranked games, and getting competent people who understand the game. League has basically turned into a gaming trend that "everyone is playing, "to become a legend".

The grading system is terrible and has no place in ranked.

It isn't like there is ideological difference between team vs individual performance that is preventing riot from changing the ranked system. Win:loss is simply the most accurate way available to judge individual skill.

dude I'd love if individual score affected how much you gained/lost per match, it would certainly balance things out.

That suggestion has been brought up before and it doesn't work simply because of the impact it would have on ranked gameplay. What you're asking for is something MMR already takes care of.

I'd be all for this but this would just encourage KDA players and they are already a reason for losing games so idk what to think about this

Overwatch did this. They also removed it cause it was a terrible idea. I was Diamond in Overwatch and I hated the system so much cause it promoted stat padding (mercy mains 5 man rezzing at the expense of healing to get their SR)

What happened was players were picking off meta stuff and getting "S" ranks but losing the majority (55%+) of their games and still climbing.

On top of that players would give up the "nexus" instead of trying for that 5% chance to defend because 1 death will ruin their S rank. (this also happened in Overwatch no one would swap to Mei to defend the last point because odds were so low to win, and it would hurt your score)

Imagine how hard an S rank on jungler heimer is to get.(probably pretty easy especially after your 10th game) And if he wins half or less of his games and could still climb, because a 15 lp gain win vs a 12-10 lp loss is climbing.

Maybe this could work for lower elos (bronze, silver, gold) to help get smurfs out faster.

WHAT !!! LOL Is A Team Game ?

When most of the players said, If you can not solo CARRY. You do not deserve to win.

I don't think LOL is a team game.

To finish my mastery 7 on Xayah, the game to get an S or higher, i barely team fought. i just farmed and farmed and farmed. I did the least damage on my team. Hell at some point it didnt matter to me if we won or lost. I got a scoreline of like 2-0-4 and never took a risk after that. I was completely useless and did not deserve to win. I got an S+ because i had like 380 CS in 35 min with 0 deaths, and spammed wards in my fountain at the end, being a complete waste of space and a waste of minion and jungle gold. This was a normals game. We won because I got carried, but i got the S+ and finished the mastery and never used her again. The grading system does not always reflect how well you did or even if you deserve to win. It encourages selfish behavior that can lead to your team losing.

There are many ways to carry.

I can carry a game going 3/1/11 harder than you did going 19/0/8.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck to lose those games where you play well but allies play poorly - I've had my fair share of those, in promos too.

What I am saying is that any change like you're suggesting will encourage people to go for this instead of winning games.

My KDA on Ahri is pretty garbage, but I've got a solid win rate on her. Reason is pretty simple:

  • I have a reasonably large number of deaths in most of my losses because I still try to make things happen after the team has given up. Even if I win 1% of those games, I'll take the worse kDa with that extra win.
  • after we get a few kills off a fight, I'll split off and get a side Lane pushing while the team pushes for the inhibitor 4v3 or 4v2 (so they can rotate and take a second inhibitor). I don't get kill participation when they inevitably get those extra kills from the enemy foolishly trying to defend the inhibitor.
  • I'll prioritize roaming bot Lane and burning my flash or ult to get my bot Lane pressure, even if we don't get a kill. I'll sometimes die due to being down Flash-R after I go back to Lane, but my bot Lane has a bigger advantage on two people (and whole team with first blood tower) that helps us win.

I'm doing behind the scenes things to win games, despite my KDA not being impressive. It would SUCK to get less LP gains and larger LP losses because what I do to win games isn't as obvious.
