Changing the surrender system

Chris Frost··1 votes·1,224 views

As we all know that you can surrender in all your games you play if you feel that you are losing. There is command that we can activate after the 20-minute mark. I am wondering if this surrendering system encourages people to be toxic and lose hope. I mean we play games because we want to win and not to troll. Having this system is stressful because it pressures you and your team without motivation. This is annoying if you always lose because of surrender without proving that you have the capability of carrying the game. It's just ironic that we want a good community but this button changes it all. If we cant manage to fix it, at least we can improve the system. This is also annoying when it comes to ranked games because we cant prove our skills.

This topic has been beaten like a dead horse, but all in all, some of the "options" could be:

  1. And this one was the best one I seen. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/GD/8AbZnXRU-mercy-a-counter-to-afks-in-ranked They call it the Mercy Rule. From my personal experience, most "bad" games are because someone raged and went afk or who is just plain old trolling/feeding. This system would allow the other team the ability to vote for "Mercy" and the remaining "good players" on the team would lose less LP. This does two things. It "promotes" people to be in good standing throughout the game in case this situation were to arise, and it also boosts morale for people can have hope that even if they got a rager on their team, then can still come out of it with less of an LP loss.

  2. Getting rid of forfeit all together. If a team wants to forfeit, then just sit on the fountain and wait for them to capture. if no one fights, the game should end in 2-3 mins.

  3. Making the ability to forfeit at 5 or 10 min mark for reduced LP hit. This one would be for the people that got into a game that maybe had someone that just never connected for whatever reason. Game is technically unfair to the other 4 wanting a fair match, this would give them a way out.

  4. Piggybacking off of #3 somewhat, if someone doesn't connect, make a new feature for people that can queue a game with team that is short players. i.e. lets say the support blitzcrank hasn't connected 5 mins in. The team can vote to permanently kick him from the game and also voting they would like a new support. There is a separate queue that Riot would design that is for games with short players and time elapsed already. So a new guy can see a game with a missing support, wants to play his thresh and queue's. If his team wins, the guy that came in late might get 2-4 extra LP for choosing a game already in progress that was harder to win more-than-likely.

There are others I am missing...but those have been some of the more "popular" recommendations.

What's your alternative?

I mean you can't win every game. It's better than waiting 10 more minutes when you could shake it off and move on to the next time :)

The point is that there is always hope. I have lost and won games because of late game comebacks. personally, I am a much better player in the late game rather than the early game. All I do in the early game is not die. What if the rest of m,y team does poorly and looses faith? not knowing that past the 30 min mark I really start to take control of games and make those big plays late game? This game just doesn't cater to my kind of play. I will never surrender a game because i thought we were going to lose. And saving 10 minutes from a game is not going to let you play more games. You can either play another game or you cant. there are no 10 minute games.

Hope? We already spread the plague in the community to find one. I prefer playing my game than playing another game with another bunch of toxic players. The thing is there is something in the game play which encourages players to do stuff.

If someone no longer wishes to play the game, they shouldn't be forced to play. If 3 out of 5 want to quit, 2 players should not be capable of forcing them to continue. It breeds a negative attitude because you've gone from being a teammate, to being an obstacle.

I agree, 2 people shouldn't force 3 people to stay. Thats why we should repeal the surrender system.

We need to change it because as he said it breeds negative attitude and toxicity. We need a better plan for being a positive player and it is causing the team to collapse.

I didn't say i can win all of my games. My point is it encourages people to be toxic and hopeless if someone disagrees with you. I'm not sure if my alternative is great but I'm here to listen to your feedback and suggestions about it. :) How about if you lose every time because of that surrender button even you're super fed which is annoying.

You are right with those suggestions but come to think of it for a sec. These suggestions need a lot of attention. Not by one, two or three people. We need the entire community to agree with this stuff. I can think of removing he surrender from the system and if the teams are outnumbered the system will define the number of turrets, drags/barons and kills for who is the winner.

They've needed to fix the system for years, but have been too busy making unnecessary and poorly thought changes. Heck, the game shouldn't even start in a 4vs5. Problem is, they don't care to do the right thing.

yeah and i was thinking if can they replace the afks with an AI that can help you in lane but doesnt count as an enemy kill.

I'd like to see the surrender feature removed...at least in ranked...it spawns toxicity that is unwarranted.

Yes its true and it causes rage as well.

whats the point in queuing up for a ranked game if you aren't going to fight tooth and nail until the last moments of the game?
