Can we talk about Ryze for a little bit?

I don't want to focus on the fact that he is literally the worst champion to play right now at sub 40% win rate (39.39% or something like that) so let's just get that out of the way first.

What I really want to talk about is how unreliable he is. I've been playing him a lot lately and it really really bothers me that if you do his combo wrong in any way, shape, or form, his damage becomes the most shitty thing in existence.

Minion randomly walks up in front of Q? Fail combo, no damage.

Misjudge your E damage and kill the minion you threw your Q at? Fail combo, no damage.

3.25 second cooldown LVL 1 on a 3.5 second duration mark and fail to E immediately? Fail combo, no damage.

Teammate kills your E target minion while pushing? Fail combo, no damage.

Massive E that gets everything except the minion directly in front of you? Fail combo, only 30% damage.

Your opponents aren't massive nooblords and actually stick together and body block for each other? Fail combo, no damage.

Or, you know, there's just a tank in the way? Fuck your combo, no damage.

Trying to prep your E for big damage in teamfight, but your target walks away? Fail combo, no damage.

You accidentally E the wrong target in a massive, massive clusterfuck of minions? Fail combo, no damage.

You accidentally E the wrong target in a massive, massive clusterfuck of champions? Fail combo, no damage.

Honestly, there are so many ways your perfect little combo can go wrong. Even getting a WEQ, which is the safest and fastest combo, is unreliable when there are any minions or other targets around. Forget WQEQ, forget QEQWQ, and fucking don't even think about QEQWQEQ. Not. Happening.

Not to mention that he needs to get like, 3 items? to actually start dishing some worthwhile damage. He is too reliant on so many stats. He needs mana, cooldown reduction, and tankiness all at the same time. But wait he typically builds the two time-stacking items in the game, so you gotta build those early on. item 3027 item 3165 item 3003 seriously though without cooldown this fool is nearly useless.... but if you're not tanky he gets absolutely shredded, considering he's SLOW AF. If you get stunned before you can cast W, E, -AND- Q, then forget it, you're dead.

If anyone has insights on this champion, please share. What the heck are the pros doing with Ryze that makes him so broken, yet I can only look cool by killing Blue Buff in about 6 seconds (with QEQWQEQEQ)

I've tried playing him as a support, it isn't too bad. Yeah, I guess we can welcome him to the support role like a ton of other champs that got reworked or nerfed into the ground.

it's primarily his ult that's making him have a low win rate

Using double e can help you prep for a combo depending on situation

Having good macro is primiraily why he looks strong with his kit with pros

item 3165 is not needed. When I used to main Ryze I always bought item 3157 for the juicy ult synergy and went full damage items after that with pretty good results.

Best build: item 3027 item 3003 item 3158 item 3157 item 3135 item 3089

You can understand an Aatrox player now ^^ Just be patient and wait for his rework that'll turn him into an AD-Tank this time
