garens gameplay.
hi guys. i just played fiora into garen and he was level 13 when i was 16 and he had phage and thornmail. his ult dealth 900 on me :) with a phage??? is that balanced. or is that riot at its most braindead

His ult isnt item dependent. It is mostly based on your missing health. Play smarter and dont fight garen with low health
The answer is, yes, it's balanced. A big chunk of Garen's power budget is tied to that mechanic and it's only really valuable against the most fed member of the enemy team. It keeps Garen relevant in late game, but, as you mentioned, Garen was having a horrible match otherwise, and he was actually three levels below you, during what should have been his prime game (lvls 11-16). If you are the villain, if you have that sword hanging over your head, then you don't want to be caught out alone.

Garen is a teaching champion, not just for the one playing him but for everybody in his game. He was punishing you for doing something that wasn't good play in the first place.
Imagine playing a disgusting champ like fiora and crying about garen.
how the hell you lose to a GAREN lvl 13 as a FIORA lvl 16 when you counter him
that feeling when garen has to execute you at 1 hp to get that kind of damage when you could just do 70% of his health in true damage instead*[slayer-jinx-catface]*
I don't know how Fiora vs Garen goes if it's a 50/50 or one hard counters the other. But the counterplay i know of is anti-heal items, building hp, and armor.
This should make Garen less of a threat...but i can't Garen-tee you.

His ult does not even scale with AD iirc, it is an execute.
I don't think Garen's OP, but the fact that if he has ult and Qs you once, you're pretty much dead is annoying as all hell.
