The plague that is aftershock first struck top carries then it got nerfed and the plague moved on striking mid lane with an intensity enough to wipe alot of fun stuff out of summoners rift. First hit was Lissandra , then Ryze and the list goes on. The latest victim from the plague is Lux who now has aftershock as her best rune atleast support. The sadness i feel for people who have to see their champions get abused and fall victim to this keystone is sad but next patch that takes care of aftershock will hopefully fix it

I do not think it is 'abuse' at all. The champions in question are choosing to play as the Riot supported subclass of "Catchers" instead of as carry mages, and they're sacrificing a fair amount of damage in order to pick up Aftershock to support that higher utility playstyle. Catchers include Thresh Ivern Bard Morgana Rakan Zyra Blitzcrank according to Riot. Some of those, like Blitzcrank Thresh tend towards the frontline tank side of the spectrum, and some like Zyra Morgana tend towards the squishy mage side, and some Bard are in the middle, but they are all considered part of the Controllers class, and therefore are supposed to be more specialized in utility than damage overall which makes a higher defense build an encouraged option for them. When you look at the kits of Morgana Zyra Bard, the similarities with Lux Lissandra become obvious and it's clear that these champions are close enough to being Controllers that it is only natural for them to be able to optionally flex their playstyles to being lower damage and more utility-focused. The same goes for Fiddlesticks: he seems to me like his best fit is a Catcher + Battlemage hybrid, so Aftershock makes perfect sense on him as a defensive rune path.
