The last 3 ranked games I have played have all had an afk and our team suffered because of that... I'm tired of getting those players who say "I don't care about ranked!" Then they feed and afk. There has to be a better way to prevent this, lost my series to bronze 1 because of this and people ask why some good players are still in bronze its the teams that have afks and people who feed purposely it makes no sense. 
I know what you mean , my idea is to have rank determined by individual performance rather than team performance. I think that could help with the instances where you do great but every other lane feeds or an AFK
They have a system in place, it's not a quick fix either, it's gonna take time to weed out the afks, just keep doing your job by reporting them and encourage others to do the same. May I also recommend reporting the trolls and unskilled players, I mean they really should play amongst them selves.
