why are you allowed to play a champ for the first time in ranked?

just curious as to why someone who just buys a champ can fucking play him instantly in ranked and fuck his whole team over? like wth can you implement something where you need to own a champ for a certain amount of time or at least have like five wins on the champ before you can just play him in ranked because i am sick and tired of people picking a champ they just bought having no clue how to play them and then feeding the shit out of their lane opponent thus making it ten times harder to fucking win because you have this dead weight who thought it was a good idea to play a champ for the fist time in ranked

There was 1 punctuation in that whole thing.

Because there's no real way for an automated system to determine how well someone knows a champion. Maybe 5 games is enough to learn how Sona works, but I've played 5 games on Lee and his combo is still finicky. You're going to run into people who play 5 beginner bot games on a champ and then run into ranked or something like that. And then you'd merely get people going 'why do they let people who only played 5 games on that champion to pick them in ranked!?' and you'd raise it to the point no one can play anything.

I do wish they prevented new champs from being in ranked for a week or two though.

Solo killed enemy mid, then had kill participation in every fight.

What of smurfs? If I make a smurf and wanna play ranked, I don't want to have to use one of my mains in norms first to "learn" them. I already learned them on my first account

and then they play the champion in bot games or normals or custom and proceed to fuck your entire game anyways

ive played champions for the first time in ranked. and won hard.

AP Chogath (played him as a tank top though). ive played (and carried with) Morgana, Nautilus , Maokai, Karma, Soraka before "practicing" them. i just read their abilities and saw other people play them to learn them.

i did still learn them though, just not by your proposed standard. i learned by watching others. how do you account for that?

edit - i also played AP KogMaw, with the only real practice being aram.

I use to play Katarina all the time when I first bought her but I suck shit with her now. I could prob buy MF right now and play MF better than i could Katarina despite having way more practice with Katarina over the time I've played this game. Just sayin :)

just because it's the first time on live..doesn't mean it's the first time. #PBE

For the love of God, don't say "First time (insert champion here)" in a ranked game, we will all cringe.
