Why don't more people play Vel'Koz?

He's gonna be the next hero I buy, but I've only seen him maybe twice ingame.

Is he weak or something?

He's very good, but in my opinion kind of.. boring, I guess? Compared to other mid-lane picks?

People don't play him because he has no mobility. He also can't make very many flashy plays. I play him a lot because he works in almost every meta

I main Vel'Koz, and he's very powerful.

It's just people can't land skillshots, especially his Q.

And he's not exactly popular because there are "stronger picks" but I haven't ever lost a matchup as him. [Yasuo is annoying as fuck as usual, but if you get an early kill or outfarm you outscale him]

I'm just going to end with saying his burst is insane early AND late game, especially with the true damage on his passive. Have fun and ask me for tips if you need them =p

his kit is hard to manage unlike other mid laners. His greatest strength is that two of his main sources of cc are tied into his damage, but that's also his weakness, he doesn't have an escape outside of his e or q, and neither are reliable. his ult is great, but hard to land more than two-three ticks. He just requires a lot more skill than someone like LB that you can simply q w e w and voila dead champ. His scaling isn't that great because of his passive, so landing two procs of his passive is key to destroying champs.

I've always thought Xerath is a better of a Vel'koz. More dmg, better base movespeed, better wave clear since his passive gives him mana he doesn't have to as much mana regain problems as Vel'koz would.

Because there is no flying spaghetti monster skin.

Vel'koz is an absolute terror!! He is my favorite champion, and if I really want to win a game, I will use him anywhere. A lot of people don't like him due to his kit being all skillshots, but once you get used to his kit it's not a problem. It's his passive that makes him a monster, honestly. Vel'Koz has just about everything but mobility and sustain. If you can land your Q, follow up with a quick EW to do a ton of damage. This is easier said than done though, since the Q slow doesn't last long unless you are maxing Q first. However, if you are able to get a hang of this, you can easily get kills without your ultimate. I'll provide any advice or tips about Vel'koz, I've been playing him since his release.

He has amazing power, but in this current meta where a since hook stun snare or Ult will instantly kill him its not worth it. Mobility is the key right now. That is why you will mainly see mobile champs in higher rank and in the pro leagues

Not at all. His is an absolute AP powerhouse. The amount of scaling in his kit is absolutely insane; his ultimate does more damage by itself than a full combo from many champions.

Of course, Vel'Koz pays for this power with his mobility. In this meta, having no mobility is a huge hindrance. If you can't dodge a Naut Dredge Line or move fast enough away from an Orianna Shock Wave you are basically guaranteed to die. Furthermore, Vel'Koz's abilities are all skill shots. They are not that difficult to land, but if you miss them, you have no defensive abilities to bail you out.

Immobile mages get dumped on by tanky bruisers right now. Unless you have killer jukes, Koz is just going to get hooked and eaten alive.

Need mana regen and good aim since you're gonna be the back of the backline.
