My problem with new Warwick. @ Riot

Hello, Riot. I know it's only been brief, and I know you do not check General Discussion, or the Warwick mains boards all too much. So, I figured I'd just share my concerns here.

First, let's just start with the good.

I can tell you implemented the "good at this, bad at that" style of clearing akin to the new jungle where some champs can clear birds/krugs well, and others are better at buffs/frog. That's kind of cool.

I like that you don't actually need pots on him which is pretty unique.

I think adding another fear CC to the game is great, and there's a lot of counter play to it/ outplay potential with it.

I like how his W functions, and I think it's one of the best passives/abilities in the game. Very very well done on this. I actually think this ability is perfect AS IS and needs 0 change. It added an extreme level of depth to him to separate very beginner players, and more advanced players. So yeah, very well done on this.

His Q: I like the idea of the Q being a sort of pseudo execute. I also like the additional situational mechanics behind it.

His R: I like the idea of it being a skill shot + having range dependent on MS.

I like his sound effects, and some of the animations. I personally wish they were more menacing though. Like the actual video.

What I don't like.

I don't like how buggy his E is, and how a lot of the times it simply doesn't even go off.

I don't like that my 100 second CD + 100 mana very narrow skill shot ULTIMATE can be negated mid air by Diana E/Thresh hook. Thresh Flay/ Poppy W/ and well, any other sort of disengage BEFORE I even make contact with a target. Which ultimately begs the question . . . why would you EVER pick Warwick when you can pick Vi Hecarim who have more burst, more flexibility, and unstoppable ults and do not have season 7 jungle syndrome and can safely and quickly farm faster than anyone else? The fact of the matter is . . . you won't ever do that unless you're a masochist.

I don't like that my Q sometimes doesn't even want to go off a lot of the times, and the times it does . . . it doesn't even do what I want it to do, and you cannot queue your Q to do damage, so a lot of the times you'll just stand there drooling like a doofus as someone kills you.

I don't like that Warwicks clear speed is gated behind a 1200 gold item when all other junglers can just casually clear birds/gromp like it's no big deal. Warwick goes oom just from doing birds. Kind of sad.

I don't like that Warwick's Q cost so much mana that he will go oom 1/4th the way through a clear, when most other junglers have almost nonexistent mana issues.

I don't like how little damage Warwick actually does. Don't get me wrong, he's quite strong against targets with 20% life . . . but then you can just kill them with Q . . . so all of that power is nice and all. But in the end, I'm just killing them with Q when they're that low. So, I think the massive steroid threshold should be bumped up to 30%.

I don't like that I was promised this

^ That's savage. That looks like an extremely powerful/damaging flying from the sky execute nuke of death with some really awesome sound effects. I'm expecting this champion to be a monster that rips people's throats out. I would be scared of this in game.

This what I got

https://youtu.be/pouEdPFICGs?t=1m57s

Not all that scary. It's a very crappily animated suppression that does almost nonexistent damage with "on hit" effects attached to it, even though you're realistically only using two on hit items at best . . . typically only one.

I also don't like how you spent a lot of time hyping up this giant wolverine claw of death . . . only to never actually use the claws. You really don't. Like why should I care about this massive paw/claws of death if he doesn't even really use them?

I also don't like how limited his dialogue is. I also expected more of a monster . . . I kind of got a weird anti-hero that is kind of boring.

There was a lot of potential for a very balanced, extremely complex and powerful champion that wouldn't really ever be nerfed, but could shine extremely well. But then you kind of dropped the ball.

Now he's honestly too weak, too easily counterplayed, terrible against a lot of match-ups,extremely buggy, a ghetto ultimate with very stupid levels of counterplay for an effect that's also easily countered. Does very little damage. Is extremely gated by items that don't even scale well to begin with. Is played with the intention of having a very powerful late game, but is an early game jungler gated by late game mana costs that oddly enough has their best power pike/shine at the 20 minute mark, but it's duller than everyone else because all other champions farmed/had more pressure/ less counter play.

The other honestly is I think you tried holding too hard on to nostalgia when you could have made the ult more akin to the cinematic and made him an extremely awesome champion. As it currently is . . . he's basically just a ghetto Hecarim with an extremely awesome passive. I personally wish you took Warwick and his visuals, took his W , and his Fear and attached it to a completely different kit similar to the cinematic . . . and this champion would be a solid 10/10. Instead he's a 4/10 . . . which is very depressing.

I really want to love this champion . . . but I can't . . . because I know he's too weak, and you didn't go as far as you could have to make him a GREAT champion.

Oh well. I really hope you guys think about this and consider what I'm trying to get at.

Yup, he's pretty damn terrible but low ELO will swear up and down how strong he is. lmao

This is well written. You might consider attaching some statistics as well. This may bolster your argument. Usually a reworked champion suffers from lots of bans and enemies not knowing how to deal with a champ for a time. This does not seem to be the case with Warwick.

you are both right and wrong here bud, yes he is subpar when compared to Vi and Hecarim (and Malphite but less so) but this has nothing to do with his individual balance state which is incredibly healthy and in the right place for the game, this has to do with both Vi and Hecarim's balance problems, Riot has already acknowledged this but as far as class update goes, they chose tanks as opposed to Divers which both Vi and Hecarim are but they are still on their radar and I would bet an arm that's the following class update, divers.

With that said I think Warwick is NOT a diver whatsoever, if anything he's more of a Juggernaut who overpowers you through steady damage, though, Juggernauts don't tend to have jumps so he's probably a hybrid skirmisher/juggernaut, either way without a real focus on diving, his ult has certain limitations that must remain in place for him to be healthy.

I might be wrong here but as far as I've seen, Warwick plays best with defensive items and not offensive, proving once again that his best scenario is to whittle the enemy down little by little as opposed to securing one kill alone

One thing to change warwick

Hey lol the new warwick is great but i think one of of these three things should be added. I think that his q cooldown is too long as that his only attack beside r and his pasive or e should deal damage. Also maybe 1 more second of fair but on his e should be added but only on level 18 or when his w is on. His r is very easy to miss so they should a small circle around the enermy champion and once u point it in that circle the r hits but out of that small circle u miss or if u hit but the champion uses goast or flash u dont hit but beside that warwick is a great and fare champion but i think lol should choose one of those things that i lised out to give him a small buff because without your r warwick cant realy gank well but just one of those things will be fine. Thank u.
