Veigar's E seperated the good Veigar from the mediocre

Previously, there were 2 types of people who used Veigar; those capable of landing the insta-stun assuming the enemy was in range, and those who could not.

This show of skill was deemed to have no counter-play by Riot. Apperantly, "counter-play" in their books means "whoever picks the champion with more mobility". Now, instead of relying on pinpoint accurate skillshot placement, Veigars must rely on the enemy playing stupid (for lack of better words) and remaining in the heavily telegraphed ring.

To make matters worst, most good Veigars used their Q for harass and establishing lane dominance. They are now being shoe-horned into a feast-or-famine playstyle where you MUST farm Q to remain relevant, making for an extremely boring laning phase.

Before this patch, Veigar had a 47.64% winrate. It is true, he was FINALLY seeing some competitive play in the SUPPORT role, but apperantly Riot's "compensation" (their words, not mine) for DFG removal was the gutting of his kit? To remove skill checks and limit effective playstyles?

Something isn't adding up here.

Technically his stun isn't really a "skillshot" once you get good enough with it. It becomes an incredibly powerful zoning tool that you have no chance of getting away from outside of a cleanse or cleanselike ability/item. Also, even IF you can use it to disengage, all he has to do is run away and next time his E is off CD he can use it and you won't be able to remove it. I mean, it is true that it sucks for those who played him, but playing against him you can't really do much. Your only option is to play a champion that has high range and just hope to farm and poke him to death, which isn't really fun imo.

I agree with OP. Total gutting of E was unacceptable and uncalled for. Veigar was already a extreme niche pick only skill players enjoyed. He was a rather weak champion actually for a solo lane carry. He had extreme weaknesses that were easily exploitable. DFG removal made it impossible for him to get solo kills and removed his mid game kill pressure. But then to gut his kit and call it "compensation". Just pathetic.

No one will want to play the champion now. There is nothing about the champion Riot hasn't made worse in the past few patches: Nerfed kill pressure with DFG removal. Nerfed R AP ratio. Absolutely useless E now except as a random CC tool in teamfights (hoping bad players will walk into it). What I consider a nerfed Q now. His kit was already unreliable what with opponents building QSS, Banshee's, Merc's, and Hourgalss, easily able to dodge his W damage and escape E stun. But now his entire kit is even worse as far as unreliability. The only reliable ability in his kit is his R and that's been nerfed also.

Very poor job by riot. His E is what made him even marginally relevant. No one will play him now. No one wants to play a piss poor paper champ (assassin) that can't kill anyone and can't even reliably land damage or CC. There is nothing unique Veigar brings to the table now. There is no reason to play the champion at all compared to any other AP utility mage. He's now a champion that relies on the misplays of his opponents and pure luck to have any effect at all.

Extremely poor job by Riot. I didn't even play the champ but occasionally, and I had a ton of fun trying to land perfect E > W> DFG> R> Q combos. And the funny thing is even if I played perfectly most of the game. I still died in almost every teamfight instantly. Sometimes before I could even get off my combo. Champ was underpowered and pretty lackluster before. But now it's almost a joke, if it weren't so sad.
