Personal Ekko Predictions/Ideas (repost)

I saw the trailer for Ekko and immediately got pumped and started forming ideas about him. I'm so excited I just have to put my thoughts out there. (By the way I think that that other guy looks like a combination of Urgot, Vi, and Sion.) Ok so first of all I think that that "hourglass" on Ekko's back acts as a "save" point. If you'll notice, he pulled the chain attached to it before the fight started. He always returned to that point when he went back in time. (this may or may not end up being a part of his move set) Also I think the reason why he retains any damage he received from the future is that HE himself is going back in time and replacing his past body (this means that he is aging slightly faster than normal to). This would explain why he has the memories and injuries from the future. Lastly I think that he will either be an assassin/mage, fighter/assassin, or a fighter/mage. One more thing though: How does he do anything with that stick!??! In the video it appears that he is cutting the robotic arm apart, but he could just be knocking the pieces off and tearing through stuff. Or the sword might be similar to a lightsaber. Anyhow I am super excited about this!! Anyone else have any better theories? Edit His sword IS some kind of energy sword as you can see a very faint glow when he swings it, although, this may just be a blur from his swing.

Edit About the mural. I have a few new theories for that. There are several different faces and several different lights/candles. This reminded me of The Day of the Dead celebration. The theory? Everyone on that mural is dead. That kid that the video focused on was one of Ekko's best friends and he died because of Ekko OR because of something to do with the time device. Ekko was either visiting the mural and he got jumped by the robot arm guy (owed him money or something) OR he was protecting the mural from the robot arm guy. The other faces have nothing to do with Ekko. (however someone said Ekko was in the mural and it kinda looks like him but it isn't clear enough) The faces are simply drawn on the mural by the family of the person who died. This also might explain why the picture of Ekko's friend is so well drawn. Ekko follows his own motto "if you can't make the most out of any given moment." He makes the most of of his friends moments by drawing him in perfection.

So my theory:

A couple things where made abundantly clear in the video:

  1. He pulls a cord attached to the device on his back and that sets a return point (shown every time he reset)
  2. He activates a device on his wrist to return to the set point (Obvious)
  3. He retains all damage he took during the fight even if he resets (Shown by him clutching painfully at the areas that he took a hit)
  4. The enemy he is fighting has their damage removed (Shown by him having to repeat the attacks he did previously)
  5. If he resets after an enemy dies it is not brought back to life (Shown by him rebuilding the mural without fighting again)
  6. He is great at identifying weak points (Shown by at the very start of the fight he sees three areas on the target that will win him the fight)
  7. Ekko is able to do anything that he did previously a second time (Obvious)
  8. Ekko remembers his enemies attacks and is able to counter them after resetting (Also Obvious)

This information can be compounded into a few of his abilities:

This one is fairly obvious Ability Ekko sets a reset point, at any point in time he can reactivate this ability to return to the reset point. Ekko retains all damage he was dealt however any damage he dealt to enemies is reset unless that target died. Returning to the reset point sets all of his cool downs back to how they where when the reset point was created.

Just Speculation Ability Ekko marks a target analyzing the weak points of the target, his next X attacks deal X bonus damage to that target -or- Ekko gains increased damage equal to X* the number of times he reset while remaining in combat with an enemy champion

Another Speculation Ability Ekko targets an enemy champion he reduces that damage he takes from that targets next ability/attack (or for X seconds) reduced by an amount equal to (X* the number of seconds in combat with that champion)* The number of times he has reset while remaining in combat with that champion, and deals that amount of damage back to the target.

The only one I disagree with is 5. I think they only didn't show the fight because that made a good cinematic ending. If any damage the enemy has taken is reset I think it is reasonable to assume that they would also come back to life.

I agree with everything you noted about the video except that when an enemy dies he isn't brought back. You can clearly see that Ekko is distraught about the mural being destroyed. He knows he can fix it but at the cost of fighting one more time. This is evident because he grimaces and takes a deep breath (as if preparing himself) and starts the time over. Anything will go back to normal no matter what because only he is actually affected physically. Also I'm going to guess that in game his time device will only affect an area and not the entire map meaning that it has about 2000 to 3000 range on it. For example: He sets a return point and as long as he and another ally/enemy is withing range they will be affected. He cannot reset time unless he is in range of the save point and anything that was in range will not be affected if it is out of range. I LOVE your ideas for the abilities, however, I feel like one or two of them may be a passive rather than an activate.

In terms of game play an enemy that dies will NOT be brought back to life, once kill gold is a rewarded thats it, its over, so its reasonable to assume this is true cannon as well. It would not be ok at all in terms of actually playing league for a enemy champion to get a kill on your ally only to have that kill gold removed from their pockets because of one of your abilities, and if we assume that the player keeps the gold even if the champion is brought back to life it is also not fair for you to be able to kill someone keep the gold bring them back and kill them again and get the gold a second time.

So once again, if a champion dies he will not be brought back.

If the ability can force an enemy back into a position simply because they are within a range of it, that ability would lack any kind of meaningful counter play, so your theory on it having a range of who it effects is out, not to mention it would be completely unfun for allies and enemies alike making it a toxic ability. The only reasonable way for it to work is for it to only physically move the one activating it, unless it is single target and has a channel time similar to urgots ult giving people time to stop it.

I agree with this in terms of game play.

To extend on this my theory is that he is going to be basically a melee version of a LB Katarina hybrid, a champion who can set a reset point, go in and get a kill, then use the reset point to get his cooldowns back without negating the damage he did to the champion he killed and then try to get another kill with his reset cooldowns.
