does anyone here think that blue kayn should consider buying abyssal?

BLACK REALM GOD··3 votes·1,063 views

for reference abyssal (item 3001 ) mask grants :

55 magic resist 350 hp 300 mp 10% cdr

15% damage received is converted into mana 20% of mana spent is converted into health up to 25 hp per cast.

nearby enemies take 10% more magic damage.

i've found itemizing magic resist, magic penetration, and hp for kayn to be a pain basically since he's purely AD and then his passive throws that off. any suggestions?

Since there is no arpen counterpart to sorcs, you don't really lose much

that's true. his movement is 340 i think without boots so he doesnt really need swiftness boots and the movement speed bonus from wall running is enough. plus it's additive percentages anyway.

when do you normally buy boots? as a jungler i tend to get them early so that i can have a larger map presence, but kayn cant change till 10-15 minutes in.

Why would you ever buy an item that increases MAGIC damage on a PHYSICAL DAMAGE CHAMPION

PASSIVE: THE DARKIN SCYTHE Kayn wields an ancient weapon and fights the darkin within it, Rhaast, for control. During each game, one will consume the other. Kayn hones his shadow skills by hunting ranged opponents, while Rhaast fuels his bloodlust by going toe-to-toe with melee enemies. If Kayn wins the struggle, he ascends to become the shadow assassin. If Rhaast is the victor, the darkin consumes his host and takes center stage.

Shadow Assassin:Deal bonus magic damage during the first few seconds of combat with champions.

Darkin:Heal for a chunk of all spell damage dealt to champions.

Ok, don't know why you would build the ASSASSIN form as a tank though.

Maybe he has a mage friend who gets the bonus.

His passive still scales with ArPen though.

Kayn's basic attacks and abilities deal 12% - 44% (based on level) of post-mitigation damage as bonus magic damage

So while building MPen increases the damage from his passive, ArPen will increase the damage of the autos(and the rest of the kit) thereby increasing the damage of the passive. If the passive worked on pre-mitigation damage, there MAY be an argument for buying MPen, but since it's post-mitigation there really isn't any reason to.

so what do you normally buy to keep yourself from dying to viegar nukes and to help with assassinating teemo?

these are the magic resist items

item 3001 item 3194item 3174 item 3060 item 3102 item 3193 item 3111 item 3139 item 3156 item 3190 item 3222 item 3065 item 3091 item 3050 item 3512

i just dont feel like any of them really work with kayns kit.

I assume he'd be best built something like

item 3111 or item 3047 with a core of item 1412 item 3071 item 3147 and then item 3142item 3156 item 3026 item 3742 based on the situation

his attack speed is low. he has great base damage and his armor is almost fighter tier, but since he's an assassin he has low attack speed. black cleaver doesnt seem to work on him. does it work for you? i might need to redo my masteries.

Breaku1 votes

Black Cleaver applies on all instances of physical damage, so that includes his damaging abilities.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

since when? i thought it was always just basic attacks. that's cool i'll have to start picking it up i guess since kayns Q does 2 instances of damage.

they change items on this game and if you take a month or two off you miss everything.

edit

i know why it doesnt work for me. i never stack it. i let it fall off because when i catch someone out if they're a level or two above me i poke them a bit before going in.

It's worked on all physical damage since season 3 :)

makes sense. i've played mostly mages with the occasional ashe here and there ever since season 1. fill gets you support now most of the time so i never get to do anything with the physical damage items. i started back into ranked to keep myself entertained. blind can only do so much while i wait on xbox one x and college to start.

i dont think i'll bother trying to get anywhere, though. too many games. i'll probably just play and see where i end up. im guessing bronze 5-3 if i play roughly 200 ish games.

kayn made me interested in jungle again so i tried him out and my first impression was he has a slow clear for the first 5 or so camps. once you hit rank 4-5 though you're good. personally i prefer blue over red and so that requires going bottom usually. i've had a hard time deciding when is a good time to get boots and when is a good time to get defensive items. most people i've seen are running an offensive mastery keystone. i've been running stormraiders because it helps get away after you R. i'm starting to think maybe i should take thunderlords, but with kayn being 100% attack damage i'd miss out on some of the thunderlords keystone - though 30% bonus is like 20-30 ish damage so maybe 200 total at level 18. at a 25-15 second cooldown i dont know how much of a difference it'd make, but it'd definitely do something. i like that precision mastery too much to give up a cunning skill tree keystone.

item 3156 Should be your go-to MR item, if anything.

Building Magic Pen is pointless as previously stated by Breaku. The cooldown reduction and Attack Damage from the Maw will provide you with offensive stats while giving you a tool for dealing with AP champions.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

so basically avoid them unless you can kill them without retaliation. what about mercurial? the price on that sword seems a bit high for what you get. item 3156 item 3139 item 3020 item 3071 item 3026 item 3147

still seems a bit squishier than i'm used to playing and that pricetag is loaded. 3600+3250+2900+3000+2400+1100=16,250 i think.

edit

and thats not even including the smite stick. i always forget to include the smite stick.

item 1400 3600 - 2625 = 975 gold difference.
