I have started dodging volatile champion selections and oddly enough I'm climbing in ranked. This is a problem that should be addressed. Either embraced as a feature or remedied through enforcement and punitive action.
It's a bit silly that I can minimize loss by avoiding players while also having to suffer through a secondary wait timer.

Don't get me wrong, I've SEEN good ones, but 90% of the time they take WAY too long to come online and game is basically lost whenever my team's Kayn decides to do anything other than farm. The only way we'll succeed with him is if ALL my other teammates can at least hold level in a probable 4v5 for the first 15-20 mins, which is HIGHLY unlikely.

Kayn post form is definitely a reward, hes very strong and he gets his form in 8-10 minutes rather than 15 like kayle.
Naalith1 votesI'm a Kayn player and even I have to admit most randoms I see playing Kayn are terrible, I'm not sure why. His early isn't as bad as it's made out to be and post-transformation he can solo carry in either form if he chose the right one.
Usually when I hover Kayn and an enemy steals him I'm just like "alright guess we won" and go to another character I'm just as experienced as. It's pretty funny.
HeeroTX1 votesI don't jg, and I don't play Kayn so I admit I don't know his actual strengths and weaknesses, all I know is I've had a half dozen Kayn jg that suck in early game and whenever anyone on the team asks for a gank after getting hard pushed or ganked by the enemy for the third time the Kayn ALWAYS replies that they need to get to their transform. I've even had a few flat out say that they're USELESS until they do.

Nevrankroaton5 votesI don't really blame you tho, there is a lot of toxic shit that this board approve but dodging is not one that I actually dislike because I understand the logic. If I am a high elo player with fucking Apocalypse in my team, or if I am playing a game and I see that my team composition suck and my teammate really don't seem reliable (or I played with them before and they were flamer)... I think it is fair. I kinda see the "1 dodge per day" rule as kinda fair, especially because if you are already tilting/thinking of dodging at first, your mindset isn't really good to focus on the game I would say.
To be super real, I would give a "1 dodge" ticket everyday (it doesn't stack) for ranked and if you EVER dodge a second time, you get the slap on the face hard. But I would allow it for promos too, I feel it isn't like a horrible thing to do. And if people abuse the feature, you remove that and put a message saying "Okay, you all are true dicks, now you get demoted 1 division by dodge and we put a banner on you saying that you are a whiny biatch".
... Idk, I would allow an experiment but maybe Riot actually did.

The pairing is fair because it does it from a statistical MMR but doesn't account for personality or toxicity since those would be subjective stats. I commonly dodge games from what I see in op.gg if 2 or more people are in their off roles, they have been performing poorly, or they haven't played in a while (Unless they have a high winrate with this condition, they are most likely a smurf so this is usually alright). This is just my method of pre-game analysis anyways.

as i stated in my reply above this is an ongoing experiment. my current conclusion is that players are more likely to assume loss if the champion selection screen doesnt go their way and no one dodges.
the loss to LP mathematically is more significant when you dont dodge because not only is your LP affected, but now you have a loss tied to your MMR. As we all know the more losses you have the further you get from that 50% win rate that allows you to considered for promotion. When you have more games on your account it creates an exponential increase in the number of games won required to further progress.
this is what creates a pseudo "enforced 50%" win rate and "hardstuck" condition. game knowledge isn't all there is to solo queue. flex teams is all about game knowledge and skill. solo queue has a bit more than that to it. queue times, dodging as we've seen, lane and champion rotation, politics, and more.
solo queue in many ways is the furthest thing you can get from professional play because of how it's structured against the benefit of a single player carry.

i was experimenting with the op.gg tactic. I ignored the information and ended up having 3 matches where players dc'd on me and a match were 3 of our teammates (myself included) were auto-filled. I then had a fire alarm go off in my building because a bulletin board caught on fire (still under investigation). while incorporating the dodge tactic i was winning matches in a row 1 right after the other and climbed to iron II from iron IV. after ignoring the information i was demoted recently to iron III. this is an ongoing experiment, but i think the data i've gained is pretty conclusive. it's better to dodge toxic champion selection screens than to play a match and lose.

i have 5 champions that i tend to ban depending on what position im playing.
top is darius jungle is yi mid is lux bottom is draven support is leona
mainly because in my low division these champions for whatever reason always seem to destroy my team.

My criteria is simple though, if we have lux support i dodge. If enemy has lux support its auto win.
