Why was the fish gutted in 6.13? (Top lane Tahm Kench discussion)
Not gonna lie to you all, I'm pretty salty about the fact that top lane Tahm Kench, and really Tahm Kench as a whole, was nerfed into a completely unplayable state in 6.13, with no buffs, reversions, or changes for patch 6.14. The rework on his ultimate passive (moved to his general passive, went from dealing 2%/4%/6% of his bonus health as magic damage on basic attacks and abilities, starting at level 6 and scaling with ultimate rank, to dealing 1%/1.25%/1.5% of his maximum health instead, stacking up to three times, and scaling at levels 11 and 16) was a HUGE damage nerf. I've crunched the numbers, and it essentially removes 30-40% of his level 11+ damage, while only increasing his level 6 damage by about 10%, and only offers ANY increase in damage in extended trades where he can get off at least four abilities and/or auto attacks. The only advantage his new passive damage has over his old passive damage is levels 1-7 or so, but it doesn't make him enough of a lane bully to make up for the fact that his late game scaling is now garbage.
His shield changes are completely whatever, and his ultimate buffs feel more like a quality-of-life change (a much appreciated one, I'll fully admit), than they do an outright buff.
Top lane Tahm used to be so fun. No opponent ever respected the pick, and as long as you played safe and farmed well before level 6, you would outscale almost any opponent. He was super pocket OP. Now he struggles to find any solid footing.
It just makes me sad. Riot, please give me back my Kench to unbench :(
