Ghostcrawler effect

Do you guys think it's happening? Considering what transpired near the end of season 5 and preseason 6 and now the past weeks. Do you think League is going down the toilet?

I don't think many LoL people realize who Ghostcrawler is and what he did to WoW. However, since I only came here after he destroyed WoW, I do. When Riot hired him, I died a little on the inside.

I can't be sure of his influence, but what he did to WoW is happening a lot in LoL. I've posted about it, others have as well. I sad he bad.

The people who blamed GC solely for the direction of WoW were ridiculous. He was part of a team that all collaborated on what they thought was best for the game. The fact that people are blaming GC for league's current direction are just as ridiculous.

While I understand your viewpoint, the "lead game designer" has more influence on the direction of something than anyone else. If you have to select one person, that's the one you choose.

It's similar to the president of the US right? However, I would suggest that Lead Game Designer has more influence on direction of the game than the president does on the US. Most companies don't use a "checks and balance" system.

They were a team. We don't know specifically how their system worked, other than that he was the lead. We do know that they came to conclusions as a team, GC and other blues have openly said so. GC started using twitter to communicate thoughts / possible ideas to the pkayer base because so many people would froth at the mouth whenever they saw him on the boards.

Solely blaming the president is also a silly thing that happens in US politics. The president is the face, so they get a lot of flak, even if it is for things that are out of their control.

I'll probably get some hate for this, but I don't think he is a bad designer. People give him flak for the bad things that happened in WoW but never the good things. Is he just magically not responsible for anything good while being responsible for all of the bad? He joined blizz as their lead designer in February of 2008 and talked to players frequently during wrath's beta. Wrath is often considered the high point for WoW considering it had over 10 million subs. How come he doesn't get credit for that, or literally any of the stuff he did work on?

That's my problem with the GC hate. It isn't realistic of his actual work which is just frustrating to read.
