When is it ok to not call MIA?

Hey guys here it is:

In one of my games when I played top, I was grilled by 3 of my teammates when I asked them to call MIA, after getting ganked by the opponent's mid laner twice (thankfully I didn't die due to my map vision hacks). They claim that as long as they went back to buy(or any time when they are not in lane themselves) its not their duty to call MIA.

Is this really the case? Thanks!

This is a trick question

MIA's are not required by you or your team It is your job to watch the map and make sure you are safe Are MIA's nice? Yeah but they are a luxury, and the people that complain about MIA's are those who somehow only get bad teammates and always carry when they win. Coincidence?

Map awareness is shared with your team. You are always at fault if you get ganked by that roaming mid laner (you have a map to look at, right?). But it's DEFINITELY a good call and a common courtesy to let your team know when the 10-0 Fizz Akali Zed is missing from lane. Even if you're back to buy or they just went b.

So you always want to be calling mias. Just in case your team is tunneling and not thinking about all possible threats.

When you are not playing to win.

It's okay to not call MIA when your team has wards and your teammates are looking at the map.

Also known as, never.

Focus on yourself and ignore the team , calling MIAs is not a must . Just make sure you watch the map so you're safe , otherthan this is up to you but I personally prefer to ping from time to time when i have a chanse and this is not my priority . My priority is to farm / not die / not get ganked .

It is always okay to not call mia. You do so as a courtesy to your teammates.

I would prefer my teammates only call mia if they have actionable information, such as "mid going to blue", or "top is teleporting", or "mid is on their way bot". I am a longtime Starcraft player and I find the notion that my teammates are responsible for telling me things the minimap is already saying is both absurd and counterproductive.

Above all, remember: you die, your fault.
