6.11 has hurt AP Ekko more than tank Ekko

Ekko is currently sitting at a 47%WR top with a 45% WR in Mid and Jungle. I think its time to address the fact that his kit needs a rework so that building AP is actually rewarding to pull off, cause as it currently stands hes better as tank and the last set of nerfs killed his jungle clear and made it so that his AP build is even weaker past the early game.

A lot of people talk about Ekko as an assassin. He's honestly more of a "light fighter" than an assassin. His kit is more similar to Fiora's than Zed's or Khazix's.

Like Fiora, he's extremely mobile, has clutch survival tools, and lacks burst, but can hit-and-run well, and deal a lot of sustained damage.

The thing is, Fiora has gone through a similar cycle. She built almost straight tank (with 1-2 bruiser items) and crushed people. She was incredibly slippery and almost impossible to peel. After months of nerfs, the tank build seems pretty much dead, but it doesn't seem like Fiora has any build to fall back on. People didn't switch from the bruiser build to a more damage-oriented build, they just stopped playing her altogether.

Even Yi (another light fighter) is in a similar boat. Once the tank build was really killed, he disappeared back into obscurity. Although losing devourer is also clearly a factor here.

A lot of people point to Ekko's crowd control as the problem. But a lot of the other light fighters seem to be in the same boat, despite lacking Ekko's CC.

The light fighter class just isn't working. Players are either face-rolling with much heavier item sets than Riot intended, or not picking the champions at all. I don't know why that is, but it doesn't seem like the problem is unique to Ekko.

I think Riot needs to look at the class as a whole and figure out a way to make a light, hit-and-run kit actually work as intended.

Maybe you guys should stop screaming nerf when a champion gets broken, give valuable thought instead of rushing the devs? Just my opinion

Win rate doesn't mean shit for how strong a champion is. Galio currently has a 53% win rate. If anyone thinks Galio is actually broken wait to sober up.

Ive been saying this for a while.

I think what should happen is the the % hp ability is removed and replaced with AP based damage.

I think the hesitation that riot has with fully reworking ekko is pretty justified though. He is a relatively new champ, and because he went in a different direction from where they wanted him to go, they are just sorta confuzled with how to deal with him. They put alot of working releasing him in the first place, and probably don't want to scrap something like his awesome and unique ultimate, and his kit was initially built around being an ap assassin, which obviously hasn't worked out for some reason.

Ekko is still ridiculous but you know, you're pulling win rates from low elo so no one's convinced.

Sometimes you have to break something before it can be rebuilt. It might take a while but Riot will get Ekko figured out.

the truth is they wanted ekko to be an assassin but his kit does not support that. assassins job is to get into a fight do damage and get out OR move all around in a fight. in order for ekko to land his stun or his ult in a big fight he needs to get in the fight and stay it or pop in run hop they cross paths with your lil ghost and then ult in with no escape.

his kit just does not support assassin

Patch 5.12 was the rise of tankko so if riot wants to buff ap maybe reverting some of the nerfs that he got in this patch.

For reference this was the patch: V5.12

Stats Mana growth increased to 50 from 40. Attack speed reduced to 0.625 from 0.644 Attack delay increased to 0 from -0.03 Attack speed growth increased to 3.3% from 3.

Z-Drive Resonance Damage reduced to 10 (+ 10 per level) from 15 (+ 12 per level)

Timewinder Outgoing damage AP ratio reduced to (+ 10% AP) from (+ 20% AP) Total AP ratio reduced to (+ 70% AP) from (+ 80% AP)

Chronobreak Cost increased to 100 at all ranks from 0. Damage radius reduced to 375 from 400.

Do you think Riot would rework a champion so soon after his release? I suppose hes not really that new anymore.

Ralanr6/13/2016, 5:46:23 PM1 votes

Isn't that winrate appropriate for someone with a complex kit? Like Lee Sin?

Calabok6/13/2016, 5:54:28 PM1 votes

He has been top tier pick for a crazy amount of time already. Perhaps he should suffer at 45% for a little while.

LankPants6/13/2016, 11:59:46 AM1 votes

Riot should probably just deliver one last swift kick to his crotch to make sure he doesn't see play again and put him in line behind Yorick and Ryze, it's where he belongs anyway.

King of Mongoose6/12/2016, 5:27:24 PM1 votes

they need to stop changing stuff besides base damages and scalings. changes lockdown times of passive and w stun length still hurts ap ekko

JamesTheMage176/12/2016, 5:43:39 PM1 votes

Ekko is broken and needed that nerf. He is balanced now compared to other assassin/fighters.
