katarina sucks at 1v1?

so lets say we're playing a 1v1 match with a friend and you choose katarina against someone like zed or akali or yasou

as you play you shit on and destroy your enemy during the early laning phase

but as the game goes on its harder and harder to fight the enemy opponent you just end up not being able to fight them in a 1v1 unless you somehow get super fed

and in a 1v1 match up you and the enemy tend to stay around the same level of xp and gold depending on farm which makes it hard to get ahead of your enemy so is it just me or does katarina really suck at 1v1 even in normal games if your not fed and you and enemy is around same level its really difficult to do a 1v1

i feel like katarina does better at a 2v1 to be honest and if im wrong can you explain? becuase i like playing katarina but im always doing so bad in 1v1s i do good early game but late game the enemy is just too strong mainly because i only have two daggers to proc and if i miss those i lose the fight im pretty sure im not the only one that feels this way atleast i hope not

She can't be good at everything, sadly, and when things fall into place for her, she is VERY good. You can be 2/3 in lane, and then in that first mid-game teamfight, suddenly jump to 6/3 because the opposing team starts dropping low and all they can do is run and hope to survive. Her lane phase is weak, but that's the price you have to pay for her being so awesome when you have the advantage. You can 1v1, you just have to be patient and set it up. Most of Kat's 1v1 kills result from poke, poke, poke, poke, poke, oh, look! 1/3 health and standing on my dagger! Q-> E-> Ult ->win!

I know people who love Kat hate this answer, but she can't be better early game or 1v1 than she is unless you want to take a gigantic hit to the things she is supposed to do well. I like her as she is. I'm willing to suffer a horrible laning phase for the fun of jumping into a team fight, popping all over the place and watching enemies melt one after another. It is SO worth a little early game frustration for those resets and the satisfaction of deleting three enemies in a row mid-game just because they got a little too low.

I could be wrong, but Kat doesn't seem to be meant for 1v1s. She CAN win them, especially if the opponent doesn't have hard CC to interrupt her ult, but her kit includes cooldown resets for kills, high mobility, and her daggers and ult do AOE damage. She isn't supposed to 100-0 her opponent every time. She's at her best when you can lurk on the edge of a fight, wait for one (or preferably more) people to get low, and then leap from person to person, finishing them off and wracking up a series of kills in quick succession. Of course I'm not saying she can't 1v1, because with a full build her burst can be insane, but I think she's more meant to play cleanup on other peoples' fights. At least, in my experience, that's what she's best at.
