Ad Shaco Top

Some theory-backed trials here:

AD Shaco top seems like one of the most consistent choices I have ever seen top lane this patch. It may seem like the most bronze decision one can make in champ select, but looking at the facts, Shaco has the tools to be the next "zero counterpick" choice in the top lane.

Here are my arguments:

  1. His abilities satisfy the requirements of a good top laner.
  • Deceive allows for easy avoidance of ganks (literally, only person who MIGHT be able to take a kill off you from a gank is Lee Sin), or that last execute hit when an enemy is getting away with just enough health to survive ignite, allows you to take ignite and tp for both roam potential and kill potential in lane -Jack in the Box is a free ward, allows you to take Gromp/doubles before minions die in lane for early level 2, good zoning against melee champions -His e (forgot the name lmao) allows him to poke really well against most top laners, thanks to lots of damage plus range -His ult clone is not targeted by tower unless there are no more minions, which means you can literally pressure your opponent out of under tower, preventing TONS of potential cs or maybe even killing him at level 6 under his own tower
  1. He is EXTREMELY flexible in lane as either a passive farmer or a hyperaggressive bully -Kills Nasus, Mundo, Cho'gath more easily than most early game laners due to deceive self-gank (pretend you backed and then come back in with deceive) -Can play really safe and afk farm (farm and tp back in, never dies thanks to q) -TP bot for easy kills -Great tower taking ability with ultimate

  2. Late game, he is a pick/splitpush role, though not so hot in teamfights

  3. Rift Herald insane synergy -Can Solo Rift Herald if needed -Burst with IE crit, shiv, and Herald buff can one shot carries

  4. If you somehow manage to lose lane, you can just go the splitpush build and sit top for the rest of the game

The build go 90% of my games Runes: flat ad, ap, and armor Masteries: 12/18/0 Corrupting pot -> ravenous -> shiv -> mobis -> IE -> Death's Dance -> GA or Lord Dominik's

If lost lane (splitpush build): Corrupting pot -> dorans blades as needed -> ravenous -> sunfire -> iceborn -> trinity force/iceborn -> tank items as needed for enemy team

What do you guys think?

That it would be right if he didn't have such a small health pool that he loses trades against most champions. I don't see him standing up against most toplane powerhouses. Most of his power budget is about deceiving and kill squishy champions not really heavy trading/sustain. AP shaco to a certain extent is very dangerous because his traps can destroy people (cf Pink Ward), but AD shaco is like.. kind of weak. If you're better than your opponent you can get fed and carry, but at equal skill he's not optimal.

Q costs a lot of mana, E doesn't do a lot of damage for the mana it costs, extremely squishy, and they fixed the bug with rift herald so he can't eyestab it if there's not another champion there. I'm sure he can solo it, but it would take so much time that it really wouldn't be worth it.

Much live Eve lane...you take ALOT of the champs power budget away as soon as they get put in lane. they are balanced around their stealth and JG. Putting them in lane is asking for trouble when there are more champs that do what they do better.
