Right to decline Autofill

For Ranked, if Riot wants to make this game more enjoyable then it should give me the right to decline getting auto-filled into a role I have no interest in playing. I don't care how long it takes me to find a game I don't want to play support. I'd rather sit there for 30 minutes looking at porn on my other screen then get auto filled into support, bot lane or mid lane. I just have zero interest in playing it.

By allowing people to play what they want it will also reduce the amount of grief and toxicity in the game. It's so bizarre to me why Riot will not listen to their customers and implement these features. If I'm in the mood to play support, then allow me to select it and I'll get a game in 20 seconds, but if I'm not in the mood to play support then I sure as heck don't want to play it.

Riot wants to know why it's losing customers in the US and abroad, they want to know why people are running away from LoL esports? It's because of crap like this, they don't listen at all. They just do whatever they want, case in point:

Autofill Going away from best of 3 for LCS These crap forums Reseting the rankings each year, why do I have to go through placements and get mixed with all sorts of players that makes for a unhealthy game? Just keep us at our positions and let us continue to either go up or down the ladder.

It's just so confusing the decisions they make.

I understand the sentiment, but this defeats the entire point of autofill because a large majority would decline.

They tried that Surprise, surprise, everyone declined support Queue times skyrocketed

Auto fill is pretty bad riot incorrectly assumes that everyone is equally skilled at every role and nearly equally enjoys every role, no exceptions. It's not just the person being autofilled that suffers if he is autofilled into a role they are uncomfortable with they hurt everyone.

Why is something that literally is not an option so bizarre? Autofill is a necessity with role selection. Its a simple production concept called bottlenecking. When one role gets queued for more than others, the entire line starts getting backed up further and further and further. Its doesn't stop. If the entire community opted out of autofill, you could be looking at 30, 40, 60, 70+ minute queue times if the role you queued for isnt the role clogging the system.

Autofill is not an option. "I'd rather wait" isnt a valid answer that solves the issue. Everyone who says this arbitrarily plucks a number like "I would rather wait 10, 20, minutes for my role"when thats not how it works. On a busy weekend night, people could be looking at hours in queue. That just simply isn't an option. The community is not waiting an hur in queue because you cant handle playing support one game. Get over it. The alternative is to get rid of role selection and go back to pick order. Spoiler alert: You still get your preferred role way more with this system than with pick order

Aaah I remember the good old times, when autofill was called lastpick*[sg-jinx]*

You not caring is all well and good- that change makes everyone have to wait. I for one am not okay wasting 30 minutes not playing a game I'm signed into and trying to play.

Also frankly Fill isn't going to be support much longer, every time I do it I get ADC.

Think about the effect this would have on the system.

Very very very simplified explanation: Even if <50% of players opted out of autofill, wait times and chances of being autofilled would increase drastically for the other players, screwing them over even more.

Autofill is an unfortunate necessary evil

I like how straight to the point you made this. Made it very easy to just be like.. Yes, i agree, Yes i agree. Bam i like it. Wish Riot agreed.

Most people prefer longer queue times for higher quality games.

my 2 cents I'm disappointed in riot for showcasing all-stars and here is why

I'm unable to play the game modes they show,

  1. the magma chamber (2 v 2 game mode) I believe they scraped it shortly after showing it. https://youtu.be/pDA8RPA6W_M?t=3m10s

  2. the 1 v 1 game mode of first blood/100 cs/or first tower https://youtu.be/lAoGoBjSSbI?t=5m9s

  3. "assassin mode" (not some weird RGM) https://youtu.be/YVeWIOVmqfk?t=5h43m50s

its also why people were/are still mad when we got a different "10 ban" system than the pro's we watch

what we see, is what we want/expect to get

For this you would need some proper balance of roles and champs. Just look at Battlerite where the champ pool is awesomely balanced, supports are as popular picks as anything else. Or look at MWO where you can see the percentages for every role in the queue, and though medium and heavy mechs are more popular than lights and assaults, there's never a lack of lights or a bigger difference than 1-2 minutes queue time. In LoL there's always a FotM role and champ pool and most people try to queue for them, obviously. As long as they won't sort this out, you can't get rid of autofill. And I doubt they will ever do it - I even have a feeling that artifical meta rotation and unbalance is on purpose for business interests. Oh, and the "it was worse before" is so much not an argument here.

(Btw I'm a supp main, so I have nothing personal here)

It's because the system is designed to make you grind. If the system would be something like the real Elo system used in chess, you would get into your proper place in 1-2 weeks easily, but then you would be seriously hardstuck there as long as you don't improve your gameplay significantly. Many people probably would stop playing as they don't feel the "improvement" and "illusion of success". On the other hand, the current system always gives you some room to go up but you have to grind a damn lot of games to move anywhere and at every season they put you back down to let you climb/grind your way up again. The reason of this system isn't to get an accurate rating for you asap, but to make you play 24/7 - as this is what a company running a f2p game is interested in actually, who cares about your rank tbh? :)

Nobody would qeue support. You should be able to play at the minimum 3 different roles, support being 1 of them.

Dodge if you think you're going to lose.

this system is far better than the old one where it was just all about who was first pick and who ... wasnt . If we could dcline autofill the thing is it wont just make the time longer for you but for everyone else , and it ruins the whole system , this is a multiplayer game man , not just all about yourself tho , too many ppl think that ( blabla i dont want to sup , and btw im gonna go yasuo and if ppl gank me i blame my ennemy that cant 1v1 ... ) i obviously dont compare you to these ppl , but i just take an example in order to show you why it simply cant happen .

Jobriq11/18/2017, 6:35:39 PM1 votes

People complaining about autofill, meanwhile I wish it returned to season 5 when there was just pick order.

"Riot wants to know why it's losing customers in the US and abroad"

That is what we call a straw man fallacy
