Listen here you top lane elitists... If you pick any of these and the enemy has a ranged champion...

You WILL get poked without having the chance to poke back! You WILL be zoned out of farming! You WILL be denied access to power!

Ranged champs WILL NOT let you do what you want! Ranged champs WILL NOT let you free farm, get your power spike items and become and unkillable nightmare! Because at the end of the day, the game is about beating the other person by any means necessary. I know, shocking.

And don't act like ranged champions have no weaknesses! Most of them are immobile and rely only on Flash or some flimsy turbo boost to get out of trouble. One gank from the ally jungler while they're overly cocky and overextending - dead! Profit! Not to mention that most of them are incredibly squishy. Unlike the champions listed above who are naturally tough and all have some sort of sustain and defence.

So, no more of these "I lost top lane to a ranged champ gut it!" babyrage threads! Learn to adapt, build around things and play defensively. I know every League player's logic is "My champ should be the strongest and everything else should be weak!", but that's far from what you'll get in this game.

You’re not wrong but your message is a bit too extreme. There are cases where ranged champions go top and their gameplay is incredibly abusive. These same faults exist in melee vs melee interactions to be totally fair.

Don’t know why you are downvoted when you’re right.

Being bullied by range sometimes is the price you pay for playing a champion that physically can’t be beat once in melee range. It shouldn’t be easy to get in melee when you almost auto win once in it.

Firstly, you don't always need mobility to get out of trouble. CC can get you out of trouble too.

People don't take something like Kog'Maw who has both no mobility and unreliable CC, into top lane.

Secondly, most top laners are also similarly immobile, on top of having a range disadvantage, while being suspended in a game design where Riot refuses to give compromise between ranged and melee.

And get this, say what you want about those ranged champs's supposed bad mobility (which is just as good as the melee roster). You have to understand 1 thing: Given their range advantage, they do NOT need to use their mobility to catch the opponent and can reserve it for escape only if they want to. Meanwhile a melee champ NEEDS to use gapcloser/mobility to get on top of targets before they can do their thing; they have to choose EITHER engage or disengage, unlike ranged champ in a range vs melee matchup where they hold the card to the player interaction. This fundamentally makes ranged a far safer option than melee, as they abuses the latter with little compromise and risk while posing reliable threat by the virtue of being ranged. There is a very clear FUNDAMENTAL imbalance between how melee and ranged champs are designed in this game, let's not kid ourselves.

I mean, why do you think top lane is dominated by ranged or 'melee with heavy range power' (cough Aatrox) champs in pro? It's not even like this is a question of organised team comp and synergy because top lane is a solo lane in pro too. All of this simply comes down to ranged champ is just superior to melee, and that's a problem.

You didn't list Kennen or Teemo or Quinn top...

Which are what most melee toplaners are getting abused by (atleast historically), quinn to a much lesser degree because she is there to snowball and roam so she is basically the same as laning against pantheon, you have hope of outscaling her.

But Kennen ...the champ that pokes you out of lane, bullies you, then proceeds to outscale you and 100-0 your team in the late game while having just enough mobility with her e and just enough damage to waveclear and stop you from ever hoping of getting a splitpush.

The thing I always find hilarious about the crying about ranged top laners is that a lot of melee top laners are super huge bullies themselves. So when they fight a champ that can out bully them or heaven forbid outright stop their potential to bully altogether, they lose their shit. But as someone else pointed out, this is just something everyone does. For some reason, people who play a strategy game lose their damn minds whenever anyone actually tries to use some strategy.
