Buff Azir

He is too weak early game, and late game is hard to get to, when he is too weak for mid game also

So instead of putting a general statement -- how about you suggest a buff that will allow him to not be completely broken in high ELO like he's been in the past?

Dr Dog2 votes

even high elo hasnt been his main problem, its mostly LCS

Spicy Rice2 votes

Literally everyone who could play azir did so every game.

When he is viable, he is an ungankable scaling monster who also has decent early game pressure due to easy wave clear, and decent poke damage.

There's a reason why people said he was most balanced when he was bugged.

Buff item 3115 and simultaneously nerf Kaisa and maybe slightly nerf Kayle. That would accomplish two things:

  1. Buffs Azir without making him an earlygame bully.
  2. Opens up item 3115 to be used by more champions since it currently has a very small number of users. According to https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/items it is used less than 2% of the time, and I'd wager 7/10ths of that 2% is Kaisa alone.

Maybe item 3115 could have its on-hit increased by 5 and its on-hit ratio increased by 0.05% AP. That's a good starting place in my opinion.

That's useless because Azir's soldiers don't proc on-hit effects.

I thought everyone knew by now he is practically Kalista 2.0 Too strong in the hands of people who know how to use him and too weak for beginners due to his inherit kit. So theyre just gonna leave him kinda weak till they think of a good update for him

Thats the same for every other broken champ such as: Kassadin, Leblanc, Irelia, Jax, Zoe, Aatrox, Akali, etc Not broken till played like crazy, or played at lcs and worlds.

Kassadin, Leblanc, Irelia, Jax, Zoe, Aatrox, Akali

Only Akali from that list comes even close to an Azir, Kalista or Ryze level of unbalance through soloQ and pro play.

As an MR7 Azir player who played him since he was on PBE, I honestly have to say this:

They need to rework Azir (again) before they do anything to buff him. They nerfed his range, damage, and utility, and Riot still cannot balance him between regular and pro play. Why? Because of the one thing that they did try and maintain when they reworked him.

The Shuriman Shuffle. A flashy, play-making combo that can single-handedly turn around and decide a team fight. A combo that was never intentionally part of his kit when he was created, but Riot thought was cool and actually encouraged. But because of having that combo on top of everything else in his kit Riot had to steadily strip things away from him one by one, lest he completely dominate midlane in the higher elos and pro play. Even reworking him from his much more unique long-ranged DPS style into a mid-ranged battle mage didn't solve the problem, because they've still had to nerf him and eventually leave him in this subpar state.

I hope when Riot comes back to Azir and gives him another look, they see the writing on the wall; no matter how flashy, exciting, and cool it may be, keeping the Shuriman Shuffle is a mistake and costs far too much power budget to be part of Azir's kit while still maintaining his gameplay fantasy and design intent. They need to first remove the Shuriman Shuffle- turning his ult back into one primarily for disengage and occasionally trapping/repositioning enemies- and then add that power back to the rest of his kit in a healthy manner.

Your standpoint is biased. Its like you are buying to much of Riot bullshit

Azir can be balanced despite everything you said Riot just LITERALLY AND I MEAN FKING LITERALY never tried Show me a fkign Azir change history where they try to actually change him for longer then a fking patch. you cant cant because they deemed this champion up for rework without actually trying then turned him into clunky unsatisfying clownzir with random 3 soldier gimmick

Shurima shuffle is also quite overated and ussualy a suicide bombo move

ALSO NEVER CALL YOURSELF AZIR MAIN AGAIN IF YOU WOULDNT MIND SHURIMA SHUFFLE BEING REMOVED

Azir should have just never been a hypercarry

His lategame damage should have been reduced and VIOLA would never require a rework

Azir's shuffle is fine now since so many new champs have such high mobility it can stay. I would say have his ult knock enemies a little bit further, or ONLY buff his passive turret by reducing the cooldown on it or having it shoot 25% faster at enemies or have the turrets attacks proc on hi effects from azir's items. This way low level turds can play him easily and higher ranks will jsut know to avoid his turret.

Your suggestions are so fking bad you remind me off live design team / balance team

  1. AZIR ULTIMATE KNOCKING FURTHER WOULD JUST MAKE HIM CLUNKIER MORE AWKVARD - AZIR MAINS WANT THE OPPOSITE
  2. AZIR TOWER HAS HIGH IMPACT
  3. AZIR HAS BIGGER ISSUES THEN HIS TOWER NOT HAVING RIDICILUS IMPACT YOU WANT IT TO
  4. TURRETS SHOULD PROC ON HIT EFFECTS ??? EVEN HIS SOLDIERS DONT DO THAT (Lack of powerspike is another azir issue)
  5. THERE IS NO WAY YOU PLAYED AZIR MORE THAN ONCE

Honestly I think a pretty nice buff would be changing it so he gets some bonus attack speed if he has 2 soldiers out. Right now he only gets the bonus attack speed if he has 3 soldiers out, which is ridiculous early game.

DeusVult1 votes

He is meant to be weak in the early game though.

He is an absolute monster to deal with once he has 2-3 items, his early game shouldnt be strong simply because the average game ends before he gets to that point.

Thats like asking for early game Kog buffs simply because he doesnt fit in the current meta

Pandemic Punch3 votes

He is too unhealthy to just be buffed. If the buff his early game then they need to nerf the shit out of his late game.

Rıots Bad Client3 votes

I'd suggest the following.

Increase his shield duration from 1.5 to 2.5. Make it so that the shield only applies after the dash is finished.

Make his W passive also count the R guards he makes. (when 3 soldiers are out, he gains a lil bit of attack speed.) by Making his R count as 1.

But, azir is a pick that does all. and does it good. So They need to actually remove something that makes him more fair.

Having a shield, self peel, burst damage, sustain damage, escape and early game monster. They need to just makes him trash so that it more fair.

That or just flatten his numbers.

making his early numbers bigger, and reducing his late numbers lower.

For example his Q. 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 To 75 / 85 / 95 / 105 / 110

Wow I never realized is shield only lasted 1.5 seconds. That's a short-ass shield.

He is only weak to certain picks I think. There are other champions he outclasses but because he is difficult to play he isn't chosen often. I do not think Azir is weak as he has good mobility, engage, and poke. His only problem is he lacks early game damage but if he had early game damage he would be broken. I do not think lower mana costs or giving him a larger shield would make him anymore viable, the damage is too high meaning his shield would have to be massive and mana costs aren't his issue. Neither of those ideas addresses the problem that he gets outclassed in damage in most matchups.

I wish it was easy getting to mid-late game, cause games don't last that long anymore since everyone goes for the win. He doesn't outclass much mid laners because his cooldowns are too high, and he can't get strong till late game, which is too late for winning, cause everything else is also too strong.

Wilyum1 votes

There are several champions who have this problem, I believe Riot is trying to extend laning phase in the preseason which could help with these problems. But I mean playing someone like Karthus, Azir, Gangplank (depending on build), Kog Maw, and many other late game champs still struggle in the meta. I think if games went back to being 40+ minutes you would see more of these champs played.

Doge20201 votes

Guess the game length meta is different from person to person lol

Most of my games for all of season 8 were around 40 min to 30 min. I didn’t have a as many games that ended before 20-25 min. (I did have those games but those were the stomp fests that other people tend to see)

Wilyum1 votes

Interesting I had far more games that were around 25 minutes.

Doge20201 votes

I play nasus and other more late game champs, so it’s kinda expected that my team would stall when we are behind during the early and why we couldn’t reliable close games that good when we would stop extremely early. And also it’s low elo, most people know jack shit about how to actually close the game when you have a lead.

Wilyum2 votes

Yeah, I feel that. Most of the time in my experience someone just makes a massive mistake at about 20-25 min and the other team manages to get an inhib and baron off of it, could be my team or the enemy team and then they just run it down to win. I prefer to play late game champions but don't because I think they are terrible in the meta right now

true, the higher the elo, the faster the enemy team ends the game. It's actually just pure luck to get a team of boosters since everyone is smurfing and boosting. All im asking for is a buff on azir nothing less nothing more, and its not even that big of a buff to make people god tier level on him by just playing him

Wilyum1 votes

I am fine with him getting a buff, like i said I just don't think that a shield and mana buff are going to fix his issues. I think he needs some sort of additional damage in the early game to help him deal with most other picks, but like I said he has a high skill cap so giving him a damage buff could easily make him OP. I think just a small buff to his damage would fix most of his issues giving him a better chance against the more damage heavy mid laners we have now.

He doesn't need a damage buff, or it will make him too strong. A shield or mana buff will keep him playable and balanced in the early game, because you can abuse him early game for being so weak and having cooldowns that are so high.

Wilyum1 votes

I do not think a Shield buff or mana buff would help him, he would still get poked down and out sustained by the popular mid picks. I agree that a damage buff could easily make him OP but I think without one he does not have enough damage to contest and a shield buff wouldn't help him against someone like Akali, Ahri, LeBlanc, or any of the other popular mid lane picks. The damage in the game is too high for a shield to make much of a difference I think.

This may be personal preference but I don't think I ever want Azir to be Meta again not Viable per say, just not meta ever! the reason for this is just, we already have assassins and mages doing fine in mid some weaker than others and some stronger than others. Then we have azir which is a weird one to me because he reminds me a bit of Anivia where she can shut down a lot of assassins and some mages depending on how it goes, so why wouldn't I azir to be good again? isn't having assassins down a good down a good thing? yes and no. since when azir is meta/good in any sense he becomes unbearable to play against he leaves no opportunity for their laner to do anything in lane it becomes to the point where even getting near azir without taking any form of damage is crazy. That's just me though I don't know much about numbers maybe someone can bring up why azir shouldn't be buffed because of X, Y or Z*[sg-poppy]*

Ahri Inari2 votes

He has the problem of overloaded kit, it's hard to balance.

Handy Sandy 2 votes

Azir can't be buffed or considered a decent pick or else he will dominate the game, he needs a new rework instead but that won't happen anytime soon

He's easy to rework tho

-Increase range -Remove mobility -Profit

Riot needs to consider professional scene as well. Not just solo Q. He sucks, I agree but he is pretty good in pro scene. He also good for team games like flex and clash.

The pro scene can make azir decent because all they do is farm, and they all play safe for a good 40 minutes, If they don't get him fed or any type of fast income, Azir will still lose to everything still because items cost so much for him to even get strong

With all they do is farming gameplay still intact, riot would hesitate to buff him. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see a Azir buff for solo q.

Why would they hesitate, since they make champions that are so strong and won't nerf them lol

saltran1 votes

Dont buff that abomination, Azir is just a Ryze or a Kalista: they need tweaks because buffing them it's not an option.

Tahminatrix 1 votes

Maybe buff his base attack speed or atk speed growth per lvl so he is only more punishing in instances where he can get consecutive hits. Sounds like something that wouldn't break him in high elo, he wont poke someone for more damage or anything, he will just have more dps in situations where he should be doing his best.

Warlord Rhinark1 votes
  1. Remove the base damage from his soldiers.

  2. Make Soldier Basic Attacks scale with 100% of his Base AD.

  3. Let his Soldiers apply on-hit effects.

There.

Daddy Ants1 votes

They can't buff him.

He warps pro play when he's strong.

Just like Kalista Ryze Galio Shen Sejuani do.

Yami No Ignis1 votes

You consider him to be strong late game, but he needs 6 items to even be considered strong enough. His flash is the only thing that can save him once he goes in with his ult. He can't get close to the enemy team without having to use his cooldowns, and his cooldowns are too long to save him once he goes in. But if he has to flash in with his spells, he is not good enough to even stay alive or do enough damage because he already used all his spells. all of his cooldowns will always be long since they nerfed his cdr for all spells.

And if the enemy team flashes away or flashes over the wall, they can fight azir like he's nothing, cause his soldiers won't have enough attack speed or he won't have enough soldiers to do enough damage.
