Matchmaker needs a serious overhaul

MM should not be a toned down version of Russian Roulette. As it stands it's all about "who got toxic players", "who got the terrible premade", "who got the smurf". This problem is especially prevalent in Normals and the horrible Team Builder.

I understand that a big part of LoL's is playing with your friends and having a good time whether you win or lose but right now that appeal is coming at a huge cost. We cannot legitimately practice anything anymore. Unless I queue up for ranked, I have not had a single game with a low gold or lower player in it, ever. Unless I go out of my way to set up a ranked or custom game and find 9 people I know, every single game of LoL I have ever played has had this wildcard element to it.

There is zero convenience to this method but right now it is literally the only option for anyone Gold 1 or higher who wants to legitimately practice without risking LP and stats. That is a terrible thing in a competitive game. This is the equivalent of randomly assigning a completely untested and unproven freshmen to the starting lineup of your varsity team. Even if the game doesn't matter, you cannot glean any real benefit from it outside of practicing mechanics.

@Riot, we desperately need a draft mode normals queue the uses the same restrictions as ranked. No more premades with 3 silvers and a diamond playing at a platinum level. No more massive discrepancies in skill levels. Harsher punishments for trolls. At most, one premade pair per team with no more than 5 tiers of difference between their ranks or their MMR's.

I, and I'm sure many others, would happily wait 10-15 minutes if it meant we got a balanced pair of teams both taking the game seriously. I'd take a losses from games like that any day over having the currently broken system serving up games by the second.

wild card element is just part of the game, theres no getting around it, just keep playing and feel proud that your the one better then the rest of your team.

Until the matchmaker has a device that detects toxic behavior before it happens (Minority Report / Psycho Pass style), we're stuck with prevention and punishment as the only options.

Ranked play is not void of the issues you speak of either, im gold 2 and i get plat ones that duo with gold 5's and play like they are from silver and it makes me laugh when they are on the enemy team and are unable to play at the level they appear to be at. There are a ton of people who manage to get higher than average ranks in the game but are not actually skilled enough in their own right to be there.
