Is my mmr really that much higher than the league I'm in?

So I was placed in Bronze V this season and am currently in Bronze II and climbing, but I'm climbing at such a snail pace. It's not slow because I'm continual dropping LP. It's slow because I'm getting lower amounts of LP than what I was getting in Bronze III and even in early Bronze II (When I first got promoted). I know the LP system is supposed to be based on the mmr of each team. You get more LP for beating a team with higher mmr vs beating a team with lower mmr and when you lose to a lower mmr team you should lose more and when you lose to a higher mmr team you should lose less. At least that's my understanding of how the LP system works. I could be wrong.

Currently when I lose a game I'm losing 20+ LP, but in my last 5 wins I have not gotten more than 17 or 18 and even one as low as 16 which is making it fairly difficult to get LP and climb. Does this mean I'm generally playing against people who's mmr is lower than my own or what's going on?

EDIT So checked my mmr on na.op.gg and well it is much lower than my league because of too many duo Q games. Honestly that is flawed though because I don't get carried when I duo. I can hold my own against silvers, this seems extremely flawed. mmr should be based on how well you do even if you duo Q :(

Actually, if you are losing more LP than you gain, that means your MMR is lower than your current league in most cases.

Basically, the system thinks you belong in a lower division than you are currently in.

The system thinks that you're a low Bronze II or upper Bronze III from what I can tell.

na.op.gg will give you your MMR.

If you're losing more than you're gaining, your MMR is lower than the league you're in. The system is trying to stabilize your ranking again by dropping you faster to where you belong and preventing you from climbing higher where your MMR is not.

If your MMR was much higher, you'd be matched with Silver 3/4/5 players.
