Daily reminder that smurfs ruin the game experience for new players

Hey, maybe Rito should get off their asses and do something about it? Just a thought.

When I first started playing the game some years ago, I almost quit because of how prevalent smurfs were. The only reason I didn't is because I had a friend who really wanted to play with me. I took me months and months, maybe even a year, to eventually get up to 30 because I decided to play only bot matches since smurfs made any competitive mode literally unplayable for me due to the abuse/lack of enjoyment getting curbstomped all game.

Now, my girlfriend is trying to get into the game and is experiencing the same problem. Ive actually told her she should just stop playing because of it since it never really gets better.

I don't think Rito understands how bad this makes their game look to new players. I don't think they understand how hard it makes it to sell this game to potential players because you know their early experiences with the game are going to be so toxic.

You realize that eventually MMR starts kicking in for smurfs, and since they consistently win, they get placed against high skilled opponents and thus are removed from your experience.

I have a friend who when his smurf was level 25, his MMR was so high he was getting placed against high gold ranked players every match, because they were the only ones with proper MMR. He got nobody below silver 1 in his games, ever.

If you lose consistently to smurfs for, say like 5 or 6 games, then you won't have anymore smurfs. The MMR of smurfs (at least the one that claim themselves to be) should be (supposedly) higher than brand new players like your girlfriend or yourself a year ago. Chances are, if you keep getting them in your games, they are not good. They can't even win on a regular basis against new players, or perhaps you are queued up with your friend who is a lot better than you and the average MMR between you guys would be matched up against smurfs.
