Why not universal MMR?

Seriously though, why don't they use mmr? Wouldn't it be easier for Riot to keep track of one single mmr for one single account, instead of all these different mmrs for different game modes? Wouldn't it make the game itself far more balanced since you wouldn't have to worry about that diamond player whose never done an ARAM or Twisted Treeline pubstomping bronzies or whatever in these games just because he hasn't played them before? Does Riot think that good players in one game mode would all of a sudden be garbage in a different game mode? The mechanics of the game never change, so whats the deal?

EDIT: To specify, your ranked mmr is what is being used universally, and your mmr is only affected by your ranked performance.

Edit 2: If unranked, the players mmr is determined by performance in normal 5v5. If this isn't technically possible, they are considered "average" and are given whatever mmr that may be.

There are players like me who actually try out a lot of different stuff. But trying something out the first time usually is a failure. Trying stuff a lot means a lot more losses.

But no one in his right mind would try something new in ranked, so it's a widly different performance and wildly different rating.

It's nice to not have to worry in normals, so I can learn new champs there.

I just wish Riot would get rid of this LP sham & just use MMR for everything.

So what happens about the person who gets Bronze V and then plays normals for a year, drastically improving without playing Ranked? Does he (possily now at a gold level) still play against people in Bronze?

The other issue trying out new things. It is noce to have a separate MMR slightly lower than your ranked to try out new things. If you play something new against people your skill who are using their mains, you will get stomped, and as such may not be able to properly learn how to play that champion.
