I miss the days

when you could go ramus or malph to punish 5 ad teams for a 99.99% chance to win

when assassin could actually blow up a adc without being one shotted or having to deal with 7k in hp shields and healing from other champions alone (looking at you lulu and janna)

when games actually lasted past 40 minutes and it took teamwork to break down the enemies base bit by bit and not "lets kill them all once and take 5 towers before they respawn"

I miss the days when towers protected you for more then minutes

I miss the days when the whole games wasn't buffed and nerfed based on LCS

am I alone on this? am I the last of my kind to miss the old league, the one that was based on the mass population of players and not the few pros?

I miss the days when riot wanted to balance the game and not push updates for it to be "new and exciting"

Think of how many champions have been reworked, or their kits have changed for absolutely no reason just because riot wanted to "give personality to them" or some crap

ADC reworks, most of the mage reworks, some of the assassin reworks. They were updated not because they were "unbalanced" (with the exception of a few champions), they were updated because riot "wanted to give each champion a unique personality" even though many of them already had one.

Examples like syndra, malz, cait literally all were perfectly fine but they pushed this rework and now they are overly oppressive.

Others like rengar, leblanc, were all in a decent spot. They weren't too strong, there were ways to beat them, but they could pop off and make peoples lives hell, especially adc's. But now they are weak and useless. They take way too long to kill someone, and 9/10 times die before they can kill anyone unless they aren't being targeted.

LMK what you think..

I actually hate this argument.

Pros are what the game should be balanced around. Pros/top-tier play is what should be the basis. So what if they're 1% of players? They're mechanically the best and understand the ins and outs of League of Legends better than anyone else in the world.

What we have now, regardless of how people feel, is 50/50. You can even tell when Riot does a patch for Bronze-to-Plat (Random buffs made to certain champions like Cho. Weird tickle nerfs that do nothing to pro play but are regarded as the death of a champion) and pro patches (Patches that nerf champions or buff them in ways that increase/decrease their power in the pro circuit).

But what I hate most about it is that it prioritizes short-term enjoyment. It prioritizes the needs of a thousand players who could drop league tomorrow and never come back to it versus the one who will stick with it. It's a short-sighted desire that only favors the instant money-making over making a better game in general. Sadly, this is a minority opinion and one that says the best players in the world should be subservient to those who focus utterly on win-rates and say that the game should cater to anyone who picks it up, not the person who has honed their skills.

Riot starts balancing the game based off Bronze 3 players crying in the forums instead of LCS High Elo Players

Nasus now gets 20 stacks per Q Rammus now gets 4000 bonus health when facing all AD teams Assassins are unable to be attacked from ADCs for 5 seconds after being seen Towers now gets +15% armor per auto Malph now gets 2000 armor when facing all AD teams Jungler Camps now only give 1 XP due to complaints of junglers leveling too fast Kog Maw attack speed reduced to 1.5 max Invisible champs now take 5% hp damage per second of being invis

i miss the days when an adc was caught out of position and actually died in 3 seconds like he/she should be but instead takes 10 seconds of full round skillshots because they bought tabis / GA 3rd item and are shredding my team

buPPDrmXEO8/20/2017, 11:26:31 PM7 votes

Yeah oh look the enemy team has full ad team, it's time to pick Rammus and instantly win.

How fun is that ? Games should not be won or lost based off 1 champion.

Why do I NEED to have an AP champion in my team ?

Ah yes, I too miss the days of Wriggle's Lantern when Master Yi could become an unstoppable force in just a few minutes. I too miss the days when tanks could buy Thornmail, and ADC's would quite literally kill themselves on you. I as well miss the days when, all the way back in season 1, there was dodge chance. I miss the one-dimensional kits of champions, I miss abilities that were just stat checks, I miss the lack of diversity in the jungle, I miss when there actually was no jungler, but most of all I miss Heart of Gold.

League has always had issues, but not all changes to the present have been bad. The game is still enjoyable, and I don't miss a god damned thing about the past. (Except for Heart of Gold, Kage's Lucky Pick, Mana Potions, and some other items that have been removed.

Well I disagree with your first point. Going rammus or malph vs a full ad team should be a decent advantage but not even close to a 99.99% chance to win. And I know you don't mean exactly that percentage, but I just wanted to clarify that.

I mostly agree with the rest.

Esports is the reason why we can't have nice things.

I miss having decent towers the most.

Like seriously? I lost a tower at 6 minutes once.

RIP season 3, back when this game was good.

Mordepool8/21/2017, 8:50:35 PM2 votes

It's a very different game now. And an inferior one at that

SAIZOxRYOMA8/22/2017, 8:20:23 PM2 votes

it feels bad picking taric into 5 ad and the enemy lucian can still take you out in 4 autos

Am I the only one who understands that the game is slowly dying more and more because of Riot's acts? Am I the only one who clearly sees that the only way to "fix" the game is by doing it ourselves instead of Riot? Because it looks like it. Whenever they release something everyone is just licking their toes while worshipping them and asking them to release even more stupid things while I am sitting in the corner, knowing clearly that we should just stop encouraging them in their madness. I knew that Xayah and Rakan would be a "meh" release. I knew that Duskblade would be unbalanceable. I knew that the juggernaut's, the adc's, the mage's... well EVERY SINGLE CLASS UPDATES would be pure failures. I knew that Riot was wasting their time reworking Ryze and Shen. I knew that Camille would be 100% banned when released. but whenever I tell something remotely accusing Riot for the game's slowly rotting potential, I get downvoted by fanboys who consider arguably the WORST gaming company in the world as their gods because they gave their main a new skin in the last 6 months. But yeah, ignore me. I'll be waiting for you next to all the dead accounts of all the players/streamers/youtubers who had a brain to realise what's going on when you'll finally see the game's slow death and say "f*ck it, I'm done"

I miss when sunfire capes stacked so you could stack five of them badboys on Shaco and fry your opponents to death.

DoTA might suit your desires better.

LoL has shifted its focus away from drafting and towards gameplay, for better or worse. If you really want to play with raw stratagy taking the forefront in wins, DoTA has you covered. However at that point, you basically sacrifice all gameplay and need to deal with the most busted overpowered bullshit kits and items possibly imaginable.

Drafting still exists, but its more along the lines of 'oh hey Renekton shits on top lane real good, lets scoop him up'.

Ultimately between the playerbase evolving, maximizing, and totally optimizing their play on a very basic level, the idea that gameplay trumps strategic depth, there really isnt a lot of room for the oldschool lane centric play. The reason botlane clownfests became a thing is because they work. There is no reason for a midlaner not to shove and roam at specific timings. There is a high payoff for an incredibly low loss (no lost creeps on an optimal roam for a kill). The optimal play is to roam, not to afk farm, and it has been since season 1.

I gurentee that if you placed current professional players in season 1 or 2, the overall style of play would be more similar to today's than the original version of the patch.

Roaming came into relevance in s3-s4, but the creep and tower mechanics didnt change enough prior to that to warent a shift based on mechanics alone, it was based on player ability.
