"KYS" can we please do something about this?

I mean its one thing to tell some one they are bad or unskilled or suck. sure all of these things are bad a deserve punishment if taken to far and or to often

but to tell some one even once to "kill them selves" should be a instant chat ban if not worse. it is not funny. it is not cool. it is beyond unsportsman like conduct and harassment put together

before some one having a really bad day has a bad game and gets told this and does something horrible can we please put it on the instant censored list and possible chat ban list?

it needs to stop, and now

Report it in the post-game lobby and the automated Tribunal will take care of it. You seem to be assuming nothing's being done about it, but ultimately Riot has no way to predict what someone will say in a match. They can only punish someone once you report them afterwards.

It's not taken lightly. Saying something like that here on the Boards results in one of us removing the post and the player receiving a 7-day suspension. That's for a first offense. If they come back and continue, we'll permanently suspend their account.

Use the report system; it's there for a reason.

I do use the report system and I will get maybe one notification a month some one has been punished. when there can be dozens of people who say this in my games in a single day.

so either they are getting away with it. or people are not reporting. that's why I suggest making it a auto reported thing. like leave busters. after game you could get a warning something like "you used kys. we do not tolerate it. cease and desist or face punishment "

it cant be that hard to have a program to detect it being said in game. after all they have one for cursing . via chat filter

You can't add those three letters to a chat filter/automated report system. It has to be manually reported. There are multiple reasons for this, but the easiest to explain is that those three letters can end up falsely triggering the system/filter just by showing up in valid words or in mistyped sentences.

Just because you're not seeing a notification from Riot about the player you reported doesn't mean your report isn't working. They've stated this numerous times.

Do what? Invent a machine that can tell the future so they can preemptively ban people who were going to say "kys"? What do you expect them to do? It is already a reportable offense and can get them banned.

What you are not understanding is that A) You can't flag 3 letters because they can be in actual words and it would limit communication to a degree, and B) People will just find another way to tell you to "kys" and every time you flag it they will make up something new.

Your best bet is to mute them during the game and report them afterwards. Honestly, this is going to sound mean but that is not my intentions, but someone that mentally unstable shouldn't be playing League in the first place. This community is toxic, it is a pretty well-known fact. If you are unstable enough that someone telling you "kys" is enough to unsettle you, you shouldn't play PvP video games in general.

If you are subject to being overly sensitive in that you cannot cope with the fact that someone else might say something that causes you undue stress. Perhaps you should limit your exposure and refrain from engaging in areas where this might happen, which is apparently everywhere. I hope you were able to get through reading this without too much trouble and I deeply apologize if it has hurt or offended you in a way that would affect your mental well being.

how ever your logic is wrong. people who abuse others is in the wrong and have no right to do so. while we have freedom of speech there are things that are still not allowed to be said like example "FIRE!" at the movies

under no situation should a person be allowed to tell another to kill themselves, doesn't matter if the person takes it serious or not. suicide is not funny. it is not a joke. it can not be handled lightly. and telling some one to do it is wrong. immoral. and deserves punishment.

Football players get MASSIVE FINES for Celebrating to much. imagine if a football player told some one to kill themselves. they would never be allowed to play football again. period. the same should be here in LoL or at least some form of punishment more then "oh you can only tell people to kill themselves 5 times a game for 10 games"

I realize this is a video game forum and that athletes in this place are a rare thing, but from your statement its very clear you've never played or watched that much football. Firstly, players don't generally get fines for celebrations, its usually a yardage penalty on the following play and nothing more (fines are usually a result of players insulting/disrespecting referees or a very dirty hit on another player). Secondly, players talk tons of shit on the field to get in the head of their opponents. They can say pretty much anything they want to and penalties don't start flying around until someone loses it and starts to get physical. Being tough mentally is just as important in professional sports as being physically strong, and if someone can make you play worse by saying something to you and getting in your head they will do it 100% of the time.

Having said that, I'd never tell someone to kill themselves. I agree its wrong and I'm a pretty big believer in sportsmanship, but people make this a bigger deal than it is. At the end of the day, its criticism from someone who you don't know. Why give so much weight to what they think? It just doesn't make any sense at all, and anyone who is so fragile that they would commit suicide because of something a complete stranger says to them is probably on borrowed time anyway.

The keyword that you seem to have missed in my original response was "generally" (meaning in most cases). Can players in the NFL be fined for excessive celebration? Yes, but its not a mandatory thing that always happens like you implied it was in your other post. Per the NFL rule book the penalty for excessive celebration is 15 yards and an automatic first down (if committed by the defense). That's mandatory and happens every single time where as the fines do not.

Also per the rule book - "If the league views the act as highly offensive, large fines and even suspensions can be issued." So the fine is more about someone doing something that the NFL doesn't approve of during their celebration than anything else.

Well, it's something that it's offensive / unsportsmanlike. If you get offended at people telling you to get cancer, or that your mom sucks their dick, I don't see why KYS shouldn't be included.

I rarely see that shit and if I do I report it and pretty much instantly get a report feedback so idk why you guys are complaining about this. I think that type of flame is the least of this community's worries, people who tilt and start playing carelessly are the ones ruining this game because you can't mute them and it's extremely hard to prove they are doing it on purpose unless they explicitly say it.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be reported, but what they say doesn't matter at all and is not offensive. At the end of the day they all get insta punished anyway so I don't understand why people are complaining about verbal flame when there are so many other things that piss people off 100x more in this game that are not reportable
