Make it so Malzahar Malific Visons can only be placed on a silenced champions

Or make just it so you must be oppressed in some way, right now it is a no skill spell that does an insane amount of damage thanks to death fire and liandryies interaction and the way your trying to fix it doesn't make sense, don't make the void zone do less damage just add the thing Malzahar needed for a very long time, counterplay.

And to counter balance it you could give it a much larger range.

Also obviously it could still jump from minions onto you and it could freely be placed on non oppressed minions.

That's the problem with your proposal. Why make it only on silenced champions and still be able to bounce to you from a minion? I can see where you're going with it but it's a little far fetched.

The skill is not applying it, but when to apply it as that is Malzahar's mana recovery spell for his high mana costs. If you just use it for harassing you will be OoM in no time and get easily forced back or killed.

Either intentional take the first bounce to deny his mana recovery, or harass him early so he can't kill the minion and have MV jump. MV needs to get multiple bounces in order for it to recover enough mana to make it break even, and it can't easily kill minions early without additional damage.

Malzahar wouldn't be able to utilize his damage reliably at ALL if he could only point-click it onto CCd targets.

Malzahar is counter-playable by heavy aggression. He's good against mana-users who need to manage resources while harassing, but those without resource constraints (low mana costs like Cass or manaless like Yasuo) can do well against him. Also, he has no mobility skills which makes him easy to avoid.

Malz' whole thing is that he doesn't make plays, he stops them.

If you make his abilities unreliable then there's no point to pick him as a champion to wreck divers.
