Or would you prefer Riot to change his kit and turn him into an assassin that has the feeling of Mortal Kombat?

If ninja = bodyguard then I would say Shen does an okay job of it. He can poof to a friend's side and he has his GET DOWN MISTER PRESIDENT taunt. My main issue with Shen is that Energy is the worst resource possible for a Tank. Energy is great for Assassins, champions who get in, kill someone, and get out. Energy is terrible for someone who wants to dive into the middle of combat and sit on the ADC's face.

Swapping Shen over to mana would allow him to get some pretty amazing mid-late game buffs in exchange for a less cheesy lane phase.

I don't think Shen's playstyle fits with his character, and other than a tanky ninja being hilarious, it doesn't really make any sense.

However, I think Shen's playstyle is super fun, and I would be sad if it was removed, as would many other players. If Shen were to be reworked in to something more classically ninja-like, it would be good for newer players to be able to see "oh, hey, it's a ninja, he is a fast, high damage character," but it would leave older players saying "there was nothing wrong with Shen, he didn't need any changes."

As much as I want character themes to be cohesive, if that comes at the cost of Shen's kit (one of the best put together in the game, if you ask me) being removed, I will absolutely say it is not #worth in this particular scenario.

sometimes people need to learn when to move on, especially when only 0% - 10% of people in league every month play Shen. lol I started playing League last feb and that was my first reaction " Why is a ninja a tank? " cuz when you think Ninja you think Assassin. lol

It's not a matter of moving on, it's a matter of there not being any good reason to change shen's kit. It is cohesive and has quite a bit of interesting gameplay to it, and it is well-loved by lots of people (10% of 27 million monthly players is still millions of people). Literally the only "problem" with Shen is that ninjas aren't classically considered to be tanky characters in video games.

If you want to play a Mortal Kombat style ninja assassin, play Zed or Akali, don't completely overhaul a perfectly good champion.

It did always confuse me how a ninja could be a tank simply theme wise. Don't think they really can or should change him to something else given how long he has been around though.

Not really high on tanks as a whole right now though so I'll save the rest of my opinion for a different topic.

I feel like right now, with his identity as it is, all they could do would be to give his abilities a rework. If they flat out changed him into something else, people would be mad, and they cant change his core ninja identity.

I like to think Shen and his people aren't really ninjas. Akali and Kennen are simply more suited for the more dexterous things.

I'm not sure most of his players would like to see him get a new model to match his playstyle (tank instead of assassin) or would like to see him get a more assassin based kit to match his model. In other words he's stuck as he is.

Make shen more bruiserish, give him a frosty slow on his q, then a spine ripping animation on his passive that does %missing health bleed (basically a fizz w). increase passive CD, but increase shen base AS.
