Did I miss something with Ziggs?

So coming out of a game against Ziggs that by the end of it really threw me for a loop. I know he's always done a good bit of damage but this game it was extreme, 1 Q was 2/3s my HP, stepping on 2 of his mines was the same thing, his ult alone with the Ludens would drop me to around 300 HP from full.

This is the game, yes fed Ziggs was fed, but the problem I have came from the numbers I was seeing even with him being fed. His Q was hitting for over 900 damage, based on his ratios the 255 max rank Q with .65 ratio he would need 1000 AP to hit that hard, a number he clearly didn't reach even when being full build. Is it a bug? Am I just completely missing something? How is he hitting that hard?

Don't forget the masteries that increase your damage delt to champions.

The Ziggs you were facing either got fed somehow or used a revolutionary build. In this case, the 35% magic pen + 15 and his AP was enough to bring a fed Ziggs to the damage you are noting.

You were playing Sona with 0 MR in items. Assuming Sona's base MR of 30 at all levels, you were taking 30 less damage from his skills.

From Ziggs' items he seems to have roughly 580 AP. His Q with that amount of AP would deal 632 damage. Not to mention 158 more from Luden's, so 790 Total. But he also had Sorcerer's Shoes and Void Staff. Sorcerer's Shoes is 15 flat magic pen, while Void Staff is 35% magic pen (I don't remember the exact way of calculating damage done after resistances so I'm gonna estimate roughly 800 damage). This isn't even taking Runes and Masteries into account for either of you.

Basically, it's not out of the question that a Ziggs would deal ~800 or so damage to you with one Q with your build as Sona. Sona at level 12 has 1240 base HP, you have 0 HP in items, so 800/1240 is about 65% of your health in one hit.

To answer your question, yes you missed something. its called your magic resistance. LOL! Anyways, on a side note, he stacked his points into Q, so I'm not surprised that he flat out creamed y'all.
