What was Wrong with Aatrox?

Aatrox was a champ that you needed to take time to learn him in order to play.

Why didn't you let Aatrox move when he is resurrecting with his passive to the current Aatrox now? Why couldn't you have changed E in to a bigger aoe attack to Aatrox like how you are doing to Aatrox in the rework?

Old Aatrox worked around auto attacks. This took away a large amount of the skill expression a lot of people wanted to see in a "swordmaster's" kit. The new Aatrox has a higher skill cap, but is also a lot more rewarding when you actually hit them. If you played Triforce Aatrox at any point and liked it I'd say you'll enjoy the new one more. If you preferred just pressing Q E AA and hoping they died before you do then you'll prefer the old one.

On the whole I think the changes good. He does feel slow I'll warn you now, but I think that's more because with everyone saying things like "Riven 2.0" you have certain expectations on mobility that he just doesn't fulfill.

I think he's going to take some getting used to, but he'll be enjoyed by a LOT of players now, rather then just a few one tricks.

Aatrox's current kit is terrible.

He had a serious case of the 'fighter syndrome' that occurred some time ago, but for some reason Aatrox kept having it through different metas: If he buys damage he won't survive long enough to deal it and if he buys tank he won't deal enough damage to kill anyone. Also, 70% of his gameplay gets countered severely by 800 gold which Riot later made upgradable to be more useful as well as Grevious Wounds being more widely reliable on APs Otherwise because he was technically the 'perfect' top laner on paper (e.g. mobility, hard CC, ranged poke) Riot had to tune them down so his mobility isn't that insane and his poke isn't too overwhelming either.

He was meant to be designed as a jack of all trades at the time but in any game you wanna specialize in team games or even solo games. If you wanna try do everything you're not gonna do anything well.
