Implement a new Account Option, "Disable allied overrides"

TL;DR some players would prefer an option to not be forcibly controlled by a random player. at the end of the post are my ideas for consumable items to balance these abilities in games where these situations occur.

Ever since Bard and especially with Tahm Kench, these forums will occasionally tell a story of trolls who intentionally abuse these new mechanics riot is implementing to allow for players to forcibly control another player on their team. In theory and in most instances these mechanics are a novel idea that allow for teammates to possibly save an ally, or initiate the enemy team in a unexpected way that could snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Riot has implemented many champions before that allow for players to buff teammates, but only recently have they begun to include what I like to call "Allied Overrides" or abilities that forcibly for a brief or extended amount of time. Such as Kalista 's Ult, Bard 's Ult, and TahmKench 's W. Now, Kalista is almost an exception in this list wherein that the player whom Kalista wishes to ult must first accept being linked to them and if they refuse they cannot be ulted. Bard and Tahm Kench however do not require any form of "contract" between teammates. This allows players to potentially abuse these mechanics in a negative fashion in order to troll. And while, yes some players are grateful for the occasional save from TahmKench 's W. He can in effect interrupt a players rotation or attempt to save players who did not wish to be "saved" at that moment.

I offer this as a potential solution. First, add an account option under gameplay that allows for players to "disable allied overrides" what this will do, is make visible items in the shop that are free and one time use consumables. These consumables will offer caveats to allied champions with "Allied Overrides" in their kits and how they can interact with you.

The Items Sanctuary's Refusal - The player becomes immune to Bard's Ultimate when there are no enemies within its active range. (this prevents players from using Bard to stall an escaping teammate in order to have the enemy team catch up with them etc. However still enables the cc if enemies are also caught in the active radius)

Odoriferous Cologne - The Player becomes immune from being Consumed by Tahm Kench. (this prevents players from being forcibly cc'd, even though it can be canceled by the player normally, that brief window of time can make all the difference in a fight)

-none for Kalista as she has a built in contract mechanic- -more would be added for future champions with these sort of mechanics in their kits-

And literally remove entire skills which are meant to be used in TEAM PLAY?

Riots report system is just garbage, honestly. You might as well just make it so players who have been reported for "intentional ability abuse" several times simply cant use champions with ally interaction.

Thank you for your feedback, I feel like there was some misconception with your understanding of my idea, this is not to remove the skills or how they function as a whole. this is simply to allow players who would like a "contract" style system for Bard and Tahm Kench. The items would be optional and no way forced to be used by players who trust their teammates in team play. However solo-queue is at times a hazardous environment where many players do in fact run into people who intentionally abuse their kit mechanics for no other reason than to troll and negatively impact their teammates games. (here is a link to a video example that was posted on these forums earlier)

this does not implement a report function, as that can be abused like you mentioned. what this does is allow players to if they wish, turn on the ability to see consumables in the shop that change how Bard and Tahm Kench interract with them, preventing the most common forms of intended ability abuse but preserving the player using Bard or Tahm Kench's use of their abilities in every other aspect. Tahm could still devour enemies/minions/other teammates(who allow themselves to be eaten) and Bard maintains his CC when used on enemies as well as allies and even when used solely on allies that feel like they can trust the Bard player to not troll them.

But you dont think, with bard or anivia, players would abuse it? "Theres a bard on our team! disable ally intervention so he can ult and we can escape" "theres an anivia or jarvan! Do the same so we can walk through their wall!"

Your idea is just bad in general; in spirit its nice, but theres literally 0 ways to make it fair or even make sense in a PvP game.

I believe there is a key difference in your examples that you have provided when compared to bard and is why they would not be included in the item list. The list I mentioned only Bard and Tahm Kench because currently I believe them to be the only champions who are released as of writing this that actually warrant such a system. J4's ult and Anvia's wall would not receive a form of disabled allied intervention because they in effect punish bad positioning and require that respective champion to be right there in the fray as well.

While Anivia to some degree can similarly block off an escaping teammate in order to troll them, to do so they require that Anivia to be literally right next to them as her wall cast range is very small. Bard on the other hand may use his ult freely from a large distance away on the map.

I believe at the very least the item for Tahm Kench would be fair in a pvp game due to it having no effect on the opposing team or the Tahm Kench player's ability to interact with the rest of the game. As for how fair the item for Bard is, I believe it to be fair, this is because if there is no enemy near you in the immediate area and you are being in effect, forcibly zhonia'd which can have disasterous/negative results for you once you leave that stasis effect. However if there are enemies in your immediate area then it would be considered fair use and you would not be able to escape it. chalk it up to lack of wards, bad positioning, or what have you.

Not a good idea. If people want to troll they will find a way to troll anyway. If your teammates play bad it will hurt you one way or another. A bad Janna ult can be just as devastating as a bad Bard ult.

Thank you for your feedback, yes I would agree with you that a bad Janna ult is comparable to that of Bard's ult in the sense that it can be potentially trolled. However there is a key difference in that Janna has to be right next to you whereas bard can use their ult from a large distance away, does not cc you for a extended period of time(you can immediately begin moving after the initial knockback), and that Janna's ult does provide some form of buff in this case being a heal whereas Bard's ult only forcibly zhonia's in its essence.

for these reasons I believe Bard to have a much more inherently trollable ability than Janna and is why I did not include it in the list

Actually, Janna only knocks back enemies, allies remain. So while she can knock away a potential kill, it's a lot less of an issue. I agree about tahm though, except I think allies should be able to get out at any point, not just after a delay.

thank you for reminding me, yeah that is correct about Janna. haha lack of sleep made me forget that bit.
