why is ekko ult free?

I laned against him and i did fine till lvl 6. he just came in and hit q 3 auto attack then he escaped out with his ult. he said it is no cost and heals him. WHY? just why?

Diana can be fairly mana-gated (at least in the jungle since you ult at least once a camp). LeBlanc, surprisingly enough, can be mana-gated early on (one combo takes out half her mana pool at level 3, half your health too though). Not sure about the others.

Because Riot literally doesn't give a fuck about casual players anymore. And it's actually true. They want a champion that will get everyone hyped for summer lcs. Hence, they gave Ekko this kit so that Faker can use him, and go bat-shit crazy with Ekko. Hence more money. RIOT, if Ekko is not patched in the next 1-2 weeks, I'm actually going to go to DOTA. But, as stated earlier, they give negative fucks for the casual players.

I don't agree with everything you said but I do agree that Riot is being ridiculous with purposely (it's obviously on purpose) giving new champions an overpowering kit.

Basically if they don't do that then the champions tend to end up like Bard, absolutely crap until several patches and buffs later when people actually know how to use them.

underpowered is better as it skews fewer games. People are less likely to take it into ranked if it is underpowered and skew ranked games.

I don't know, there were a lot of Bards when he came out.

At least he can only do it about every 110/90 seconds. Also, now he has no escape unless he can hit you 3 times in time. Just dodge his Q and then get him.

u know if u use ult u can have vision ( cost mana) then u press ult again to tp in range ( no mana cost). i pick card after i have a vision and before tp.

That's the problem with champions released 2014 and onward. They have little to no mana costs, or are resourceless. Honestly, if Riot's going to go in this direction while constantly nerfing mana regen they need to give all their older mages and assassins little to no cost. It's only fair and about time they are caught up with their newer, more stronger counterparts.

thats dumb question because she is designed that way. dont bring her here. we are talking about mana assassin. 3 mana assasin i can compare are talon lb and malz here. talon costs 60 80 55 100. lb costs 90 100 80 free, malz costs 100 110 120 100. since ekko is good at melee range combat without abilies( his passive and w passive). why dont we lower ekko q mana cost to 80 and make his ult cost 100 like talon?

HERE IS A BETTER QUESTION: Why doesn't Kat have mana at all? Her abilities are pretty magical to me...

Katarina has no mana costs because of her playstyle. She generally has low impact, low cooldown abilities that don't do very much on their own, and she's most scary when she gets her resets. If she was going all crazy with her resets and she ran out of mana, that would be a huge gate to her pattern. If Riot gated her with mana, they would basically have to increase her damage by a lot to compensate for losing the ability to QWERQWEQWEQWEQWER the entire enemy team.

Not to mention when she isn't all-inning, she generally is trying to win by attrition. By poking you with no repercussions (can't trade back, she has no mana costs) she has an option for laning and pre-teamfight usefulness. She would be pretty awful if she had no mana when teamfights started

She mostly just throws daggers and spins, anyway. Not very magical.

I hate Katarina tho. Like so much She shouldn't exist
