What to do about Essence Reaver

My thoughts on what they should do with it:

item 3114 + item 1053 + item 1037 = item 3508 3300g (1025g) +55 attack damage +15% life steal +15% cooldown reduction +75% base mana regen Passive UNIQUE PASSIVE: Dealing physical damage restores mana equal to between 5% and 10% of the damage dealt, based on your missing mana.

(note: numbers aren't by any means permanent)

Yeah it really does need some work. I remember when they tested out a smaller component called the Soul Sickle to it, but then that disappeared. Was a nice idea though, since you could get the passive ability earlier on. They really need something for it so that it can become a much better item then what it currently is.

IMO it needs to keep the 80 AD. It'd be worthless without it. I think it needs a better build path, but that's it.

It's the perfect item for Ezreal, why do you want to change it? Do you hate Ezreal?

There is so much that I like here and so much that I don't like here.

Forbidden Idol is so good for ER because it provides ER's mana regen passive and its CDR. Idol being in the recipe allows AD's to pick it up in the mid-game for some extra mana regen and CDR.

However, Reaver's mana regeneration passive should replace Idol's passive mana regeneration to promote the interaction that Reaver's passive provides. I think Essence Reaver would feel a lot better if the passive was emphasized over passive mana regeneration.

Likewise, ER's passive I feel should apply only on auto attacks like live ER does because there are a lot of abuse cases for this item that could come out of applying on all physical damage. What's to stop someone like Talon or Pantheon from simultaneously harassing and clearing minion waves at the same time for essentially no mana?

Pickaxe vs. BF sword is a tricky place to look at because it depends on when the item is supposed to be purchased. It really doesn't matter unless the item is tied to a particular AD value.

Vampiric Scepter is something I don't currently like on live Essence Reaver, and is something I don't like on it here. Vampiric Scepter makes it compete too much with other lifesteal items like Bloodthirster and Blade of the Ruined King. Removing it and adding more power elsewhere allows it to compete with the needs of the player instead.

Live Essence Reaver begs the question "which lifesteal item do I want?" Essence Reaver should ask the question "do I want mana regeneration on my AD build?"

I like the idea. There needs to be some mana regen in the build path, and forbidden idol is the perfect item for that because it also offers the CDR found in the final item. Though. I also think having it be all physical damage is a bit much - it should probably only apply to single target physical damage, so that it works with Panth's and Urgot's Qs but not with Rake or Volley.

It just needs to build out of an item that would make it useable in lane. Until that happens Tear will always trump it. Similar damage, better regen, higher total mana and costs 1k less.

ER is a strong item. But by the time you'll build it, you probably wont need it.

Bring back the PBE item that built into it. And buff the LS to 15%.
