Mid Laners...

...think that they deserve your blue.

I just played a game as Udyr and my Tf mid wanted blue. I said no. He threatened to report me for... not wanting to give him blue.

He ended up ulting to blue and taking it, so I just took the enemy blue. No big deal. The enemy team surrendered and I was 9/2/4 and he was 2/2/5.

But why do mid laners think that they deserve every blue after the first one? I don't get it.

As a mid laner...

Jungler helps 3 lanes. I help 1. If they need/want blue, it's all theirs. Even when they say I can have it, I usually let them have it because I think there's more value to them having it, aside from a few obvious exceptions (eg. Swain)

I should be able to farm without using my mana, so if I am oom I'm either missing my skill shots or not playing properly

they dont "need" it, its just extremely helpful and they're used to every other jungler in existence giving it over without a problem, nothing you can blame them for, its just that we dont want to be bothered with building a tear or having to buy a mana regen item as our first choice when flat ap will help us snowball and get ahead in lane and cs better.

Your buffs are your business. I am, however, going to raise an eyebrow when a jungle Shyvana doesn't want to give blue to a Vel'Koz.

They never need it, but if it's someone like Azir (who it affects even more than most mages because of his passive) or Ziggs (because spell spam), they could REALLY use it and your team will be better off with them having it than you. If you ever play with an idiot that thinks he deserves it, even on those champions, he doesn't. Though as an Azir main, I will freely admit that I will be sad and a bit frustrated if my jungler never lets me have blue (especially the second and third blues) since, barring a jungler that REALLY needs it, it'd be way more effective on me.

I'll let the jungler make the choice since I can survive without it (even if I **REALLY **don't like to) and I'd rather not be toxic, but 9 times out of 10, it is more useful on me than them.

I just go into every game assuming I will never receive blue buff and manage my mana accordingly. Relying on blue buff weakens my performance.

But why do mid laners think that they deserve every blue after the first one?

Because LCS. In truth, blue is supposed to go to the person that can use it the best; often times this is the mid laner, and most people just treat that as some sort of dogma.

I only take blue if my jungler offers it, and even then, most of the time I tell them to take it if I feel like I'm behind and they could make more use of it, or even if I don't feel like leaving my lane due to positioning or something. Most people at my elo don't know how to manage their cooldowns or mana, so it doesn't really make a difference to me.

Mid laners are definitely not entitled to blue buff. But, as a jungler, we need to weigh whether or not the buff is better used by us or by the mid laner (and very rarely the support).

Some junglers need the blue buff for the entire game, some only need it for first clear. If midlane is ahead, and you want them to carry the game (and you do, that's part of what jungling is: getting your lanes ahead so that they can succeed and bring your team closer to victory) then you should probably give them the buff. If your mid is feeding and they're 0/4 by the time second blue is up, you absolutely do not give it to them, that's called stupidity.

It's all about judgement calls. But every time the buff is up, you need to ask yourself: Who is the most beneficial recipient of this buff? If it's me, then I'll take it. But if I don't really need it and someone else would do better with the mana regen and CDR, then you'd best give it away, because you're wasting resources!

Well Op just confirmed he believes that the jungler is solely in charge of the buffs and decides who gets what. That mentality is dangerous in a team oriented game. Like I said, if the jungler isn't doing his job assisting the team and is just farming, prepare to lose your buffs to someone who will use them.

If I am midlane and my jungler takes blue I expect him to gank someones lane and help them snowball. If he is simply taking blue just because he feels it's another camp, chances are I will steal it from him.

If they act all high and mighty and ungrateful about it, I don't let them take it. Smite it every time.

That said, if they aren't, I'll more than likely offer it, or give it if they ask nicely.

It's not 'your' blue. It's the team's blue. Maybe the jungler can use it better than the mid laner, but you don't deserve it any more than they do. Certainly, if your mid is just gonna give the blue to the enemy, take it for yourself and mute them if they complain, but if you're getting blue I'm expecting you to make plays with it, not just farm.

If ur a mana user against a Zed or a Yasuo, you really do need blue. I've learned this from playing Zed...it's like after 2 trades or so the enemy would be OOM, and I'd be able to just go in for free kills. Every time I'm like dam im glad that guy didnt get blue lol

Acidic Puddle4/27/2015, 9:05:22 AM2 votes

They want it so they can win lane. Your just being a greedy fuck...

BeatzBoyFTW4/27/2015, 9:20:15 AM2 votes

Giving my mid laner the blue buff gives me some breathing space, knowing his lane would be more easier for him to lane now, which also means giving me some time & space to gank top & bot more instead.

Learn to play without it mid?

I view blue buff as a great bonus when I play mid. I don't need it, but if I can get it I can shove like a beast and usually get a kill. It really depends on the team if I expect blue or not. Does my jungler use mana? He needs it, I can make due and still break ever or win.

Premium Fuel7/10/2016, 11:18:03 PM1 votes

Because it really really helps aggressive laners who can't shove their opponent out because of mana. Like you should ALWAYS give cassio blue buff. She is really dominant in lane if you give it to her. Tf is a little iffy because of his blue card but it still helps him to spam red cards to clear the waves. Zed actually benefits from blue despite popular belief. It gives energy regen and cdr. But if you need it for jungle clear go ahead and take it (if you are Amumu Diana Olaf etc) If you can survive without it then go ahead and give it to your mid laner and use less spells when clearing.
