My two cents on Aatrox changes

After thinking about the changes , should we still consider him as a skirmisher/diver ? Those changes turn him pretty much into more of a Juggernaut-ish playstyle considering that he will scale a lot better with HP . The changes are shifting his scaling pretty damn much imo : so far he scaled with AS , AD , LS . Now he will scale with HP , CDR , AS and resistances . I don't have any other arguments to support it .

One thing is clear though , he will be more vulnerable to CC due to his passive and especially his high CD's . It seems logical to me that 40% cdr should be a must have now in order to spam the E that has a 4.8s CD at rank 5 with the amount of cdr mentioned . With the bork changes , the enemies shouldn't be able to kite you that easy since the move speed move can be increased to 6s . Another sure thing is that they'll have to burn flash if they would like to escape . But that's a 1v1 scenario only .

The early AS loss is what makes me sad about it . We should all consider to add more AS in runes when playing him . Something like 20% should be enough . If you're a maniac , you can go for the 29% as in runes , 'cause yolo xD . More seriously though , the loss of passive AS steroid has weakened his dueling potential since you will have to get those stacks in order to get that AS . Not only we should consider more AS in runes , but also we should consider adding hp/lvl in it .

The builds will change . DRASTICALLY . We won't be obligated to build that much of AD , since he will be more oriented about his base AD . At least that's my opinion . We should also consider to buy an item that may seem to be really fucking powerfull with him , and it's the SHEEN . It seems logical to me due to his passive , but that would mean that you bet all on one card .

There are still some things that need to be done : If you gate the bonus AS to his passive , than you should consider upping his base Attack Speed since his healing comes from autos , and he has a garbage base AS . You should also consider reducing his Q and E cd's since they are pretty high , and extend the duration of his Blood rush passive or lower the decay time because it decays really really fast .

One other change to his passive I would like to propose : Attach the bonus AS steroid to the number of his Blood rush stacks since AS is crucial with Aatrox , and keep the bonus base AD + revive on his new Blood rush mechanic .

they could simply make his passive scale with AD, like you get this much HP back per % of AD, idk im not part of the balancing team, but an incentive to not build Tank is preferred for me.. but atleast he scales well on his spells.

Here is my problem with Aatrox as a champion, even after these changes:

Comparison:

Aatrox - Xin Zhao

These two champs have a pretty similar kit (especially after the upcoming Aatrox rework) Aatrox gets an uncontrollable boost to power for 4 seconds from his passive, Xin Zhao gets almost the exact same stats from his W and can use it whenever he wants. (though Aatrox will be able to extend it for as long as hes in a fight, this doesnt really matter since it will be so easy to just let it run out before fighting him) Xin has a consistent CC ability that lets him knock someone up and cant miss, Aatrox has a very very ridiculously small area he has to hit, after a very slow animation in order to knock someone up for the exact same amount of time. Not to mention Xin cooldown on his CC is 5 seconds and aatrox is 12. Xin heals on every third hit just like Aatrox (and for almost the exact same amount as current aatrox when over 50%) and he also deals bonus damage on every third hit, without having to toggle to a different ability, and this bonus damage deals about the same damage. After the rework Aatrox healing and damage will both be much better than Xin, but again xin gets both damage and healing without the toggle Xin and Aatrox both have a slow, pre-rework Xin slows for more, and deals higher base damage, After the rework they slow for almost the exact same amount, Aatrox being 5% more, the biggest difference is Aatrox E has the potential to do a lot more damage but only if you build heavy ad since it only scales with bonus ad so with how his build will have to be after the rework you wont get much extra damage out of it, so the damage is almost exactly the same as Xin with a slow that is almost exactly the same as Xin. But get this, Xins cant miss.

The only real difference between these two champs are in their ult, and Aatrox revive passive. Unfortunately Aatrox ult is not that big of a deal, its potential is very limited, and after the coming rework you will have to almost exclusively plan its use for during your passive up times.

Right now and even after the rework there is no reason to play Aatrox over Xin Zhao,

My only problem is the removal of the AP ration on E. It's what makes AP aatrox (if I get him in aram.) viable at all, whereas now I will probably just build him straight tank (spirit visage, warmogs first as usual.)

It also makes him a heckuva-lot more vulnerable to tanky champions or champions who itemise with armour. That magic damage was not only a deterrent to armour stacking, it was also a way of giving him unique pathways for people to enjoy him as (magetrox, on-hit, etc). By making him purely physical with no options outside of straight up AD and not giving him the stats or defensive bonuses of a juggernaut, Aatrox I fear will be in a worse spot that intended with the changes.
