@Riot IP gain and prices

While I know that Riot periodically reduces champion prices as new champions are released and unfortunately they will probably never let us earn some RP by playing (like Smite), IP earning is really slow. It really takes a long time to get 6300 IP for a champ, for runes or a rune page, not everyone can play 8 hours a day. You don't get the same amount of IP if you win or lose (which is fine), but heck, it really takes a lot of games to earn that much IP.

My question, do you have anything planned for IP earning?

You have released party bonus in the past but you could do something different which doesn't involve forced socializing for those who can't/don't like it.

  1. You could really boost up the IP gain for those who perform outstandingly in a match, say, they either get tons of assists or kills, essentially either carrying, being a life saver or just helping out their team a lot. And I'm talking about a 400+ IP gain whether you win or lose. Performance should be taken into account more than game length and win/loss. I read you intend to add new statistics like how good your warding/counter-warding was, damage mitigated, etc. you can play around with that, too, the more helpful you are to your team, the more IP you gain (regardless of winning or losing).

  2. IP based on your rating at the end of a match, in addition to the previous proposition, you can award more IP by a significant amount to those who get A and S, 200+ IP. But those who get B+ should still earn a bit more than the usual pitifully laughable low amount.

  3. Make party bonus permanent but only a set amount of times a day for your account, basically, like a win of the day.

  4. Finally, do something about IP for players who own everything and/or have over 40k+ and nothing to spend it on. Allow them to gift IP at the end of a match just like you can award a 'friendly', 'helpful', 'teamwork', 'honorable opponent' thingy. Let them do something about such unholy amounts of IP, or, be sensible and finally let us buy skins with IP even if they're double the price!

I had an idea a couple of years ago, don't know how the board will react but w/e. I think ranked queue should have a flat IP cost per game (actual value should be large enough for people to care if they lost it, but small enough so it doesn't lock out too many players), charged at the end of game(dodging champ select will not result in an IP charge), refunded if game is reset. Losing team loses their IP, winning team is refunded and rewarded with an addition IP bonus equal to the cost. AFKs lose twice the cost increasing to a larger penalty if the player continues to AFK. Win streaks are further rewarded with additional IP bonuses, with each consecutive win granting more IP. Standard IP gains and FWOTD bonus still occurs at the end of every game where applicable. This system primarily aims to help lower elo players as typical higher elo players don't play ranked for farming IP.

Possible Pros.

  • Playing and winning ranked games becomes objectively the fastest way to farm IP leading to an influx of players resulting in more balanced ranked games.

  • Brand new lvl 30 accounts are essentially locked out of ranked until they have enough IP they are comfortable gambling with (in other words new lvl 30s won't ruin bronze and silver games because they think their time against intermediate bots and lvl 10s was adequate practice for competitive play).

  • It adds an immediate reward to each win in ranked for all players whereas now the only real reward is the free victorious skin at the end of the season for gold+ players.

  • Players tilted from a losing streak will run out of IP and are essentially forced to stop playing ranked until they play some norms for IP and cool off. Thus limiting their numbers in ranked games.

*Could be adapted to be an IP sink for players with loads of excess IP. Maybe adding an option to gamble more IP per game for bonus rewards like hex tech crafting materials, gemstones, or champ/skin shards.

Possible Cons

  • Additional loses will make losing feel worse than it already is, even though, with an average win rate of 50%, you will still make more IP if you play multiple ranked games due to the fact you still get the basic IP gain at the end of each game.

  • Disconnecting and consequently going afk will result in a heavy penalty where one isn't always deserved. It sucks to dc and lose more IP on top of the IP you already spent to play the game and the LP lost from the game, but if disconnecting is consistently a real issue you probably shouldn't be playing ranked in the first place.

  • Trolling and toxicity would be much crueler, requiring a stronger reporting and penalty system. Can be subverted with pregame lobby reporting options and comprehensive report reviewing methods, mostly chat log analysis and maybe VOD review.

Is it perfect? No, but I personally think it would be better for the player base in the long run. I saw a forum thread wanting something similar to this back before the boards were introduced, it has its flaws, some of which are yet to be seen, but i personally believe that fixing the IP problem Riot has needs to be something more than just a general cost reduction to all IP purchasable items. Plus, I feel having more people consistently playing ranked would make the game a bit more fun and competitive.

For players wanting to just play normal games. Sorry but i cant think of a way Riot can reasonably make IP easier to farm whilst not ruining their games main attraction for newer/casual players, the grind.

I have two ideas for this:

1: Just double all IP gains. A sweet and simple solution.

2: Earn IP boosts by playing well. The way I'm thinking of it right now is that an A gets you a 1 win IP boost, A+ gives you a 2 win IP boost, S- gives you a 3 win IP boost, etc. to 5 win IP boost at S+
