Nah, Akali is pronounced more like Dahl than Doll. It's an absurdly minor difference that would almost certainly escape the notice of a non-native speaker (and might also be dependent on dialect and/or accent) but I agree with you that Akali doesn't quite rhyme with A Dolly.

It's mostly an intonation difference. Akali has a rising intonation on the "ka" while Doll is flat the whole way.

As I said, nitpicky native-speaker stuff that probably varies even within America let alone the other countries with different dialects of English. I certainly would understand what you meant if you said "Doll" with a rising intonation since English doesn't technically (as far as I know) officially designate intonation for words, but if you ask me whether "Akali" and "A dolly" rhyme perfectly I would say no.

I really want to skype or curse with you so i can understand your accent. I am honestly so confused. i understand accents, i have one myself, but I have never heard one that has the ali part of akali sound different than dolly.

I mean, the stress is the same, uhkahlee, uh dahlee, heck in pseudo phonetic typing they are spelled nearly the same.

and yes, before you ask, I have been saying akali, a dolly to myself a dozen or so times while writing this, I even made a little rhyme of sorts.

Calling Akali A Dolly is Prolly A Folly.

yes I know prolly isn't a word, but it fits. it is slang for probably, incase you were unaware.

I lived in Minnesota for 18 years, while my family comes from New England. Don't know what that does to my accent, but those should be the biggest influences.

Try saying the "ka" in Akali like "car" with a really bad fake Boston accent. Maybe try to make it a bit nasally. Doll on the other hand is much closer to Dull. I'm exaggerating to emphasize the differences, but those are the directions I would characterize their differences.

Of course, it's entirely possible that I'm objectively wrong and they 100% should be identical. For all I know I'm even imagining the differences when I'm saying it myself.

(If you're interested, I also think Folly rhymes with Akali, while Prolly rhymes with Dolly.)

I pronounce it A K A(accented) L I. Like, with full open As, not half-Es or half-Os. So A D A L I doesn't mean much to me.

Jhin is supposedly a very ordinary looking man though, at least according to his lore. That and he has total control over his facial muscles so probably isn't nearly as grotesque as he thinks he is. (Like Deadpool, Jhin is very self conscious)
