so I looked up my mmr....

I have been very surprised at how much easier it is to rise in my smurf than my main account, while I was trying to get out of bronze I started ranked on my second account and was placed in silver IV! then real quickly rose to silver II! it then took me a LONG time to get to silver II on my main, and when I did I seemed to hit a wall again, losing 5 series over the past week or so. so I went over to my smurf last night and quite handily hit gold. easy peasy.

so today I was curious, I checked my MMR, it's 1100 on my silver II main and 1400 on my "smurf" gold account.... xD

it really seems to me, that maybe there is such a thing as elo hell :P

Same problem for your main and my main, do you recommend I should make a smurf and get to higher rankings then my current rank?

Well, all mmr calculations are just a guess since Riot keeps the secret formula secret. I could be that you really messed up the mmr on your main account when you weren't as good as you are now which would explain why it's easier to rank up with a "clean slate" account.

you can check your mmr on op.gg

It's not your real mmr though. It's op.gg's equation not Riot's. It seems pretty accurate but there is no way to know for sure.

The realtime match lookups show the MMR assigned to both teams by matchmaking.

You're not listening. That's not the REAL mmr. That's op.gg's mmr. Only Riot has the real mmr calculations. All other sites are just estimations.

I was listening. You made a statement that was counter to what I had previously heard, without providing any evidence to it. I've been around the game a long time and remember when the team average MMR was available directly in the game logs that were saved on your computer. I figured that while they took them out of those, that's still what they were using on these sites.

Just looked into it further and you are correct, Riot decided that they don't want real MMR info available, and won't allow sites to present it as an individual MMR. The sites do calculate those numbers with their own algorithms.

When you've already played a lot of games, your MMR changes less with each game than it does on a fresh account. It'll take comparatively many more games to raise the main account with a fairly established MMR than for a new account still establishing its initial MMR.

so, if I played a lot of games and should be rising, I don't rise. sounds like elo hell :D

It's more that the rise will be very gradual on the older account.

I mean but, change in mmr aside, the thing is that both times I go on my smurf I win every series I play, but on my main every series is incredibly challenging and most of them I have to redo. that doesn't have to do with how much MMR or LP I gain, that has to do with who I'm playing with and how easy it is to win. it's like, I'm being paired with people on my smurf who are better than me, and I'm doing well enough that I'm almost as strong as my allies and certainly performing my role to help them win. but on my main, almost every game it's clear to me I'm supposed to be carrying my teamates, and as an ADC main like, if my sup is a last pick fill, it's kinda hard to win lane hard enough that I can makle up for poor jg plays or a feeding solo lane. which insidently, I have done on my smurf the few times it's happende.
