Position Selection

This is more for Rioters themselves, but, I recently had a game with a Duo. We selected our roles as Top/ADC for myself and Mid/Support for them. So why did I get autofilled into Support and they get autofilled into ADC, when we had the opposite role as our secondary selection? That just doesn't make sense and I've never had an actual answer to this from friends or anything I've read.
