Varus, bot lane, and crits

Varus mid is cool. I like that he can be this artillery guy that can also take towers pretty quick. He's pretty unique in his little niche mid.

Sadly, if you want him botlane for both a mix of poke and sustained damage, he really falls flat at both and is almost completely outclassed by most other ADCs, especially along the lines of sivir, ezreal, ashe, caitlyn, kog'maw, and corki, all kind of do his job not only better but with added utility (resist shredding, stuns, team movespeed, blinks, traps, you get the idea). On top of this, pretty much every ADC these days has a good sustained damage build, either with crits, CDR, or the occasional rageblade. Crits especially have synergy with nearly every ADC's kit, with the exception of Varus.

I think to give Varus a little more oomph, either relegate almost all of his power to piercing arrow, or add some power to his W in the form of crit-synergy.

Essentially, allow both the on-hit portion to crit and benefit from IE bonuses as well as the 'pop' when varus hits a target. His abilities would critically strike, but the only difference would be that any stacks of blighted quiver they pop would crit, rather than the ability itself gaining bonus damage. If his basic attacks crit, perhaps also have them apply an additional stack of his W (two additional stacks with IE - may need to raise the cap and lower the damage if you go this route), or simply have the bonus magic damage apply crit modifiers if the attack itself was a crit.
