Eyecatching title about camera control QOL and improving playerbase map awareness
So I play on locked camera. I've grown too used to it over however many games I've played. I know a lot of other lower level players do as well, especially if you came from Diablo or Runescape or something.
To check other parts of the map, I click on the minimap and hold my mouse down. Releasing the mouse button snaps me back to my champion. What I would really like would be for the F1-F5 keys to behave in the same way. Press and hold the key to view that champion, release to snap the camera back to you.
(If you didn't know, pressing a function key will take your camera to the corresponding allied champion. However, this only works on unlocked camera; the buttons do nothing on locked camera.)
Pretty simple. Would go a long way to improve map awareness, and encourage players to play more as a team.
Say we get fancier with it. If you press multiple function keys, the camera will move to the last button you pressed. Basically a stack, but only while the button is being held. Say I press F2 to look at champion 2, and hold the button. Then I press F4 and hold it, while still holding F2. Camera would move to champion four, and if I released F4 but was still holding F2, the camera would move to champion 2 until F2 was released.
I know a lot of people were really interested in semi-locked, including myself. There is one issue with it people have previously brought up, that I agree needs to be changed. I'll link the post here.
Lastly, while I've got you here, I'd like to propose a small change to teleport to improve CLARITY. Say I hold down my button for casting TP and I'm selecting a target. Highlighting possible Teleport targets would go a long way in helping people quickly assess their options to get to the best position near the fight. It's obnoxious to scramble over the map, look at a blue ward on the minimap, panic and try to find a yellow or pink ward close enough to a fight that's probably going to be over now by the time you actually choose and channel there. I know, git gud, but I think this would help a lot of players out and encourage more team play and swanky teleport strats.
I really do hope Riot sees this and that perhaps we can start a discussion on how to encourage (or at least facilitate) more cooperative games and aware players.
