Why support still stinks

I have had way too many team builders in the last few months where we had to wait 10 seconds for every lane to fill and then an additional 5 minutes for a support to be found. It is always the last choice in my ranked games and in blind pick. Support is simply a role that the majority of people don't like as much as other positions.

There was a brief time at the beginning of the season where support starting items were strong and everybody seemed happy to play the role but things got slowly nerfed and many people lost interest (see feral flare and farming junglers.) The support items need to have a gold income buff so that you can actually build something on your champion other than the completed gold income item, shoes and sightstone in the first 30 minutes of the game. Plus a lot of people are apprehensive about laning with a partner that may be horrible or super angry so they tend to avoid it altogether.

People are going to say "well that's too overpowered." I say that's fine to have it be overpowered. Sometimes you have to make things overpowered in order to make people interested in doing that again.

Support is my favorite role :(

I don't mind support, but I would much rather farm up in the top lane and then play protect the ADC, instead of starting the game that way.

Really? Because I'm always waiting for a jungler. Support is fine where it is, but it's people's mentality that would need changing. Everyone wants to be the one with kill power, or carry the game rather than be in the back and secure kills for other people.

My experience is a little different.

When I am in the top 3 picks in ranked, I usually lay out my prefs: jung/mid/top, and take one of those. (I say 'usually' because I am flexible depending on the team discussion--I am usually willing to go ADC, but in that position generally unwilling to support, as it is my least practiced role, and I figure I'd probably do just as bad as someone complaining about it.)

When I'm in the bottom 2 picks in ranked, I usually state that I'll fill, but that supp is my worst role. I think I've had 0 games as a support this season (I could be misremembering; may have had 1 or 2). I've been between Bronze 2 & silver 2 this season (currently silver 2). Even when I'm last pick, someone else (often one of the first to select) picks a supp.

I don't mind supporting but I HATE the current 0 kills 0 cs support meta

I'd say the bigger problem is that most Team Builder matches I've seen have been prolonged because a support would come in with no ADC there, wait five minutes and then quit.

And then an ADC would show up ten seconds later and repeat the process.
