Has Volibear Seemed Out of Hand Lately?

I really have only experienced this in a few games recently but it seems Voli has been tankier than normal. I mean REALLY tanky, to the point where he was kind of deciding team fights because of his big beef and damage output. It could just be that I saw a few particularly good Volibears recently, I am not entirely sure. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading, -ZombieOfun

Has Volibear Seemed Out of Hand Lately?

Not any more than any other tanky DPS champion. Volibear's base stats are nothing special and his only defense in his QWER is his HP regen passive, which is kind of "eh" compared to a wide range of defensive skills in the game.

Any Voli issues are more a result of tanky DPS itemization being pretty solid at the moment over anything else.

Volibear is a fighter, he's supposed to be able to decide fights and he's good at fighting. For the most part: fighters in LoL are pretty much carries that rely primarily on defense to survive long enough to kill things rather than relying primarily on speed or range to survive long enough to kill things. Or rather, juggernaut fighters are primarily defense: most fighters are more a mix of defense and speed. Regardless: If a Volibear gets ahead, it's pretty much the same issue as if a Katarina or Lucian get ahead. Runs in, kills all the things.

The masteries gave him a great deal of sustain, armor, and mr for free. And with tankier items and item 3748 having great synergy, he is able to get that damage.

Volibear is so brain dead you almost lose brain cells while playing him. You just can't fuck up while playing this guy and that is what make him so strong. His passive is also on a short cooldown and since the other last whisper item is better than mortal reminder nobody is buying it.

He is out preforming many champs currently.

A 54% win rate is nothign to laugh at and say nothign is up.

It is likely a result of the items improving the effectiveness of his kit. Give him a dead man's and a lot of champs can not get away from Voli and his rolling thunder that easily. Sterak's makes him resistant to burst damage making him more likely to get better use of his passive.

He has a lot of things improving his strengths or covering his weaknesses. And yes being able to bust Voli out before his passive kicked in was often times a good way to contend with him.

But he also tends to fall off in longer games and the games have been overall shorter. So he got an indirect buff by having things go faster.

I guess that's what happen when you have items like Sunfire and Dead Man's Plate.....

Usualy tanks with health/deffensive scalings tend to be too strong because they don't need any damage to deal damage

Malphite Rammus Volibear

Until they were nerfed to the ground like our dear Sejuani

He's always been pretty strong and insanely tanky, but I wouldn't say he's anywhere near "out of hand".

highest winrate in jungle position. meanwhile his main role is top lane. I would very much say yes he is. hes the tankiest stickiest champion in the game.

A rolling thunder gathers no moss.

Volibear is only solid when people are dumb enough to feed him early, do not feed him and he will be as usefull as a sack of meat come midgame.
